Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone knows how to get my korg electribe EAmk2 talking to my fostex FD 8 digital recorder. I am trying (in vain so far) to send midi clock from one device to another inorder to record the electribe to the tempo map of the fd8. It starts it off but then the chase lock goes nuts and.wont sync. i have tried every combination that seems to be available but no luck. i even tried using my ESmk1 as a go between and again couln't make it work. I'm starting to wonder if the chase signals are compatible. It seems so close to working then loses sync. Please help me or i may have to hoy the lot out of the window. :)

Cheers.

How are you sending the clock, via the midi cable?

I've not had any trouble locking an electribe device to Sonar on the PC so I would imagine it should be very near the same using the FD-8 unit.

hi cheers for your reply.
sending the clock via the standard midi cable.
both me and my friend have had the same problem and its really annoying.

im wondering if it's a known fault and there is a box that solves the problem.

cheers.

I'll try and get a few minutes to look a couple things up this afternoon here and see if I can help find what the issue might be.

One thing I should have asked last night as well.

When you set the units up to send or receive midi syc are you setting one as the slave and one as the master?

Preferably setting the FD8 as the master and the Electribe as the slave.

That would cause it to maybe start out going OK then it would completely freak out as it doesn't know which one is supposed to follow the other.

tried both options (fd8 master-eamk2 slave and vice versa) with no luck.

ok. some success. don't know what i did but now i start the fd8, the electribe slurs into action and then locks to the beat about 5 crotchets behind the fd8.

ok, with the framerate set to 24 the electribe is now precisely 2 and a half beats behind the fostex. could i use some sort of an offset to compensate?

I know the FD is a bit older but I would think it might have an offset feature on it. Not sure exactly were to look for it though.

The electribe is new enough it might, but if the sync isn't happening in reverse then that is no good either.

Are you using simply chase lock or are you using start, stop, continue?
