I have a Sennheiser Freeport handheld wireless mic ( I know it's crap) I haven't used it in a long time and decided to turn it on today. The thing is all I get is a 'static" noise. I know the line to the mixing board is good, the RF signal gets to the receiver but not the audio, I don't see anything on the AF even when I yelled into the mic, battery is new what could be wrong? I've also played with the squelch etc..
I have a feeling that the handheld is dead.

May 05, 2009 07:57 pm Yes it is. You think what Im thinking??? I'm in Canada and I think the FCC model come in place next summer. Unless they already blocked the 700 band already here!!!!!
May 05, 2009 08:04 pm It all depends on Canada. They do not have to follow the FCC rules here.
Just because we pushed the switch back to June 12th. They may have already made the switch.
So, all of Canada's emergency services are now on the 700 mhz bands.
Which would account for the static that you are hearing.
There is still time. All wireless manufactures are allowing you to return any wireless product for credit till the end of May.
Call Sennheisser. See if you can cut a deal for a new unit.

May 05, 2009 08:06 pm I think it's a $40 rebate on your next purchase. It is the CRTC (our FCC) will follow the the FCC model, otherwise it could get messy.
May 05, 2009 08:09 pm Well, $40 is better then nothing.
I know that most of their best units cost around $1000 - $2000.
But they do have cheaper ones available.

May 05, 2009 08:43 pm Maybe I can sell it in Europe
Damn they don't use 110
May 05, 2009 09:35 pm But they are made in Germany.
That means that they have the ability to do both voltages. =)

May 06, 2009 07:56 pm I sent an email to Senny and the guy said that there's probably something wrong with the unit..... unfortunately I bought it on ebay so no receipt.
May 06, 2009 09:31 pm Aw dude! That sucks.
Their standard fee is around $85 per bench hour.
Well, the $40 rebate isn't sounding to bad at the moment.

May 09, 2009 07:14 pm So I finally got time to take a look at it.
When I removed the grill I saw 3 wires hanging, 2 black 1 red. I can see 4 blobs of solder on the capsule and 1 blob on the ring. I would assume 1 black goes on the ring as ground now I have to find the right polarity for the capsule, which tab is positive and negative(usually left pos. right neg.). I tried all combination possible but no chance. I still get nothing.
