Hello I'm new to this site I signed up hoping that someone can help me with my recording delay. I saw there was another thread about changing the buffer to 128. The only option I see within the program itself is to change the playback buffering in seconds so how do I change it to 128 if this is the solution? I record rap vocals over beats using Acid Music Studio 5. The computer I am using is a laptop HP Model dv8130us. The specs are on this website www.shopping.com/xPF-Hewl...0us-Notebook-PC or google the model dv8130. I'm frustrated I've been trying to get it to work correctly for an hour now. The problem is when I record it plays back slow/sped up and off beat from the way I actually rapped it. I tried to slow down the vocal or off set the tempo but i can't get it to be on beat. Please help me

What are you using to record with? In other words are you using an audio interface with a microphone of some type. Or are you using the on board sound chip? And if so what are you using for a mic?

Yes I am using the on board soundcard and a simple $20 headset Logictech Headphone mic. I've used this before with Acid Music Studio 5 on my other laptop that I sold but this laptop I haven't. I still cant get it to stay on beat, the vocals are way off and when I record the beat sometimes speeds up and slows down, something is wrong with the memory or something I dunno. I might have to chuck this laptop off a cliff, im so mad please help is there any setting I can change???

All I want to do is press record, hear the beat, rap, record it, and play it back with no off beat vocals, I also tried using a different program, Acoustica and Adobe Audition, still the same problem, so it must be a setting I need to change or my laptop sucks

Get some sort of audio interface. Internal soundcards will cause more trouble than anything.

What you are having is a latency issue or a simple "don't have what it takes" laptop. Get an interface to help with both of these issues.

That:

Plus:

Is a good place to start if you are just doing vocals. It's cheap and very effective for your purpose.

It might. But, I don't recommend it.

Ok since you don't recommend it, what else would be good to go along with the pre-amp and mic set-up, is Acid Music Studio good for those devices or should I use something else? I'm trying to get as close to radio quality as possible
Thanks for all your suggestions and help

No problem man.. I actually found a better/didn'trealizeitwascheaper interface that you might dig.

www.zzounds.com.../item--LEXALPHA

And it comes with a better program "Cubase LE" IMO, it's better anyway...

That mic will be a good fix though.

Acid would work but, it's more for loops and stuff... Which, I guess rap iss.... But, I'd prefer Cubase LE for the flexibility.

Ah. Good call. My bad.

www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SPhantom/

You could get something like that... Or find an interface that is cheaper than those two that has phantom power.
