MV-8800

I recently bought MV-8800, and want to record vocals on it. Does anyone have experience with it? How is the recording quality wise? Should I purchase any additional equipment to accompany MV-8800 preamps and mastering tools? I have the AT-4040 mic.

Thank you

I'm not sure I would go out and spend $2000 on a hardware DAW and not know ahead of time how the recording quality was. But to answer the question. It is good, no better and no worse then any of the other units out there.

As for purchasing anything else, I would say no. Everything you should need is in there.

What type of music will you be doing with it?

Well, I agree with you, but the thing is that my number one reason that I bought the MV-8800 was to make beats. But I am just asking how well is it to do other things as well such as mastering and recording vocals. Even if the other functions aren't that useful, I will still love making beats on it. I will be doing hip hop. I bought the presonus firebox preamp running on MacBook Pro (using Logic Pro) and I have the AT-4040 mic. So I asked, because I am curious if the quality of the vocals would be better on MV-8800 or if I record it through the laptop.

Thank you for your knowledge.

OK, more directed at the beat making end of it. That is a perfect workstation for that indeed. I work with a local artist who has been using one since the first version, MV-8000 and now uses the 8800 as well.

AS for the quality of the vocal's. They will really be about the same. The pre's in both units are good, although there is modeling available on the MV that you won't have with the Presonus unit, but may be available in Logic.

If you have a monitor and mouse hooked up to the MV you can do all your editing and such in there on the bigger screen and save time flying the beats out to Logic.

So its really a 50/50 thing. Its going to weigh on what is more convenient for you at the time.
