Dark Ride - First time posting

This is my first year recording from home. I got a lot of help from articles on this website so I thought I'd share my latest Track, Dark Ride -
www.homerecordingconnecti...sic&id=8225

Dark Ride is a short, sweet, fast paced tune with sweeping guitars, and a big chorus. Did my best to get the most "commercial" sounding chorus I could.

No harmonizers used. I sang all the harmonies the old fashioned way.

Vocals - me
Guitars / Bass / Drums - Thibaud Vuille, from France.

Please review/critic/add/listen/enjoy

Thanks everyone!

Great tune man, great mix. Damn I wish I could hit those highs, I need them at times. Is he actually playing those drums? They are extremely tight, bravo.

The drums are the only instrument that isn't real. :(

Hey Jason, welcome to HRC first off.

Nicely done indeed, your vox are great. And the harmonies are tracked well and sound great. The solo voice is mixed in well and holds its own over all the guitars very well. The harmonies are very smooth indeed. Only comment I would toss out is possibly to change up the velocity of the kick and snare a bit to add a little more realism to it. The drums sound killer though for the most part.

My youngest son saw your screen name while we were listening to the track and walked over to the Cd rack and pulled out one of the Herod CD's and said he though that was you. Looking at your bio I guess he was right.

Either way, he agreed the track sounded great as well.

I'll be curious to hear this cover your talking about on the myspace page.

And give my compliments to Thibaud on the extreme guitar playing.

Looking forward to hearing more from your new collaboration for sure.

That's cool that your son has a Herod CD. Hope he enjoyed it.

I am working on a cover tune with Thib currently that will hopefully be ready within a week or so.

I'll drop a post when it's ready. Thanks again guys!

Hey Jason, I figured you would read this thread so here goes.

I am not 100% done mixing curse my name but will make it available for download as soon as I do and let folks know.

Now a question, would you listen to "Don't startle the witch" under my profile. The music (minus solo) is done but the vox are lacking. It was written in an 80's metal style and could really use some wicked highs on the chorus (whole song really). Would you be interested in singing on a cheesy video game based metal song :)?

Just thought I'd ask, won't hurt my feelings if you don't feel like it.

LOL, actually the CD was mine. And I have them all. And yes, we all enjoy them. A very wide range of music comes through here. But heavier stuff is the norm for us.

And indeed stop by and let us know when the other track is ready. I'd be more then curious to hear it.

CptTripps, Don't startle the witch rules! I'd be happy to lay the vocals for you. But I do have quite a full plate if you could give me a little time.?? I don't want to post my email here but if you can PM me, or email me on myspace.com/jasonrusso page I'll send you my email address so you can email me the MP3 file.

I tried to upload the new Cover Tune here but didn't have enough space. It's the first song on my myspace page though if you want to check it out?

Sweet, that makes me extremely happy :) My plate is quite full as well with... 7 months pregnant wife, 2.5 yo girl, 24/7 on call job and a band that gigs every weekend. Along with my side job of recording local bands I can more than understand a time crunch :)

I will get a mixdown without vocals and send it to you. Go ahead and send me your e-mail address to [email protected], just put something rocking in the subject so I know it's you.

Oh yeah, I was talking with Paris last night, she said she misses you like crazy.

edit: man... listening again you guys just really slayed that song. That dude is ridiculous on guitars :)

Jason, that is killer for sure.

It was a complete surprise as well. I wasn't sure what you would cover, but that version is stellar. Gotta agree on the guitars as well.

I'll check out the others when myspace isn't tanking so hard.

On Herod, my son in the Army mentioned that. I haven't had time lately to even go looking to see what they are up to.

Welcome to HRC Thib. Glad you could stop by. I know for me and my sons we are enjoying the music for certain. The guitars are killer to say the least.

It sounds like a great project indeed. The cover caught me by surprise for sure. But again, extremely well done.

Thib!! Brilliant guitar work and a very well written song. Although the drums are programmed they are very tastefull and fit the material perfectly. Bravo and glad you could stop by!

Thank you guys. I'm really appreciating your support. The drum sound was the harder thing for me to settle, glad you seem to like it. When I'm composing a drum track I really try to imagine how a real drummer would have done, and avoid copy/paste to bring sort of a more organic/human feel to it.

So now, we're continuing the record/creation process with Jason.

How lucky I'm to have found that guy putting my music in words. Everything comes really naturally, and with such power, it seems like we're musicaly connected.

Soon there will be more on the myspace page.

For now just a lil design upgrade, and in some days a new song called "Lepidoptera", which will be the 3rd, and fortunately will blow some minds out.

4 more to go and we'll be done.

We're going to make a CD edition, a 7 songs ep.

Can't wait to have it in my hands^^.

Thank you all,

Metal is forever !
