hi! thanks for posting,
i'm looking for a compressor too. i've started a thread here www.dbmasters.net/hrc/for...ead&id=1790 that asks the same question, and i got several great responces from the owners of various units.

i'm stuck between the Behringer MDX2600 and the dbx266XL. not sure yet, but i *may* end up going with dbx.

read that thread if it helps :O) -j

If I had to choose between the Alesis and the Behringer, I would definitely choose the Behringer compressor. I used a Behringer Composer once when I recorded my instrumental album, and it sounded decent. The 3630 is just not a good sounding unit. It lacks headroom and colors the signal.

If you can find one, I recommend the FMR Really Nice Compressor (RNC), but it may be hard to find in Portugal.

ye in portugal the moust comun is the behringer, alesis, phonic, and same dbx but for the phonic and the bdx you have to be same luck ti find it on a store.
the 2600 composer is a litle new in Portugal so the opinios are short in the comunity of players

more opinions please

ok ok i know my englis suck´s he he but the intention may have same credit ;)

I am a huge fan of my dbx266, and so are a couple others around this forum.

I have not used the Behringer, but some trusted friends of mine use them and love them, so either way, you would be getting a decent compressor.

Yes, it really is a matter of what you expect form a compressor. I have owned about 8 differant compressors, and settled with a Behringer Composer Pro. I just liked the the compression it gave me, and there were no added artifacts to the audio. I would recomend either the Behringer or the Dbx as both are very good quality wise, and they are both extremely transparent in the audio chain. And you cant beat the price.
