MicroKorg Midi Help

Hi, I'm having problems recording MIDI from a MicroKorg that I won on eBay. I'm new to MIDI, and I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

The problem is that it doesn't seem to be sending note events. Instead, all Sonar records is Patch changes from it, even though I'm only hitting keys on the keyboard. Any ideas?

My setup is MicroKorg -> M-Audio MIDISport Uno -> Vista 64 laptop/Sonar 64 demo

I reset it to the MicroKorg factory settings, and have changed the MIDI CH to 1, LOCAL to OFF, CLOCK to AUTO.

It doesn't appear to be a Sonar problem, and I already posted at the cakewalk forum, and did some troubleshooting. Plus I added screen shots over there:

Any ideas for how to get the MicroKorg to send notes instead of patch changes?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I hate to say it but it looks like you got took by the seller on ebay there.

I read through the entire posting at cakewalks forum and they hit pretty much everything I would touch on here.

One thing I will ask though is does it play its onboard sounds when you have local control on? In other words does it work correctly playing it as a synth?

Yes, as a synth, it seems to work fine (as far as I can tell). At least it sounds alright to me.

I've started a thread on the MicroKorg forums too:

I think there have been issues with the Uno with certain keyboards before. I did a search on google and there seems to be a glut of them. Mostly communication problems like your having. It appears the the Midi-Sport 1 x 1 does not have these issues.

I guess I would ask for my money back if it was a new purchase on the Uno for sure. That or make them trade it toward something else that will work. I would actually hit up M-Audio with it and see what they will do.
