OK, with all of the gloom-and-doom talk about murders, economy crises, unemployment, personal tragedy, countless tech problems and general malaise, we need to lighten it up a bit.

Let's all think happy thoughts for a little while. Mmmmm, puppy dog tails. Two scoops of ice cream. A mild spring afternoon. Finding a '58 Les Paul for $20 at an old lady's garage sale. Mmmmmmm, yeah that's the ticket.

Hey, another happy thought, I reconnected with my best friend from ages about 8 until about 23, the guy I first had rock star dreams with and stuff that took off across the country after a bad breakup and other crap while we were, less, living less than healthy lifestyles let's say...

That's happy too. Met him on Facebook...good to know he's well and all after all that time.

sweet. i'm looking forward to getting another trip to VA in the spring. my bud is in VA beach. My drummer bud and I went down there last May, and am getting itchy to go again.

We were sitting on the beach, watching kids swimmin and such. Quite delightful, coming from N Michigan.

I just found out (after the tube thread) that Mike K from NCA tubes is in Sterling VA (near DC) which is right on the way. I may have to bring my Super down there to get it tweaked up. It's been kinda sick for the last year or so.

Hey pjk, I know that you have been down to Virginia Beach already. But, if you go about another 45 min. South. You will come to Sandbridge. Right there is where the Outer Banks start. It's a great beach to hang out at. Not as crowed as VAB is. And it's a heck of a lot cleaner.

For me, I'm just glad that the Winter slow down is just about over. The Berks County Jazz Fest is about to start. Which kicks off our season. Yeah! More shows to do. More money! That's always good!

58 Les Paul for $20? Am I the only one that caught that?

I can go on being pissy if so cause that makes you happy enough for both of us :)

My fiancee'is flying down on the 27th, and we're going down to Tampa for a mutual friend's wedding.

Happiness is just 1 and a half weeks, and 1 hotel room away. Booyah!

Er....unless she's in the middle of one of those girly problems. Then it'll just be plain torture. :|

Teehee, a '58 LP for anything less than 6 figures would be a miracle. But surely there's one hiding in some gramma's attic somewhere in the world.

My friend had a long-distance relationship for a year. Their visits were unfortunately spaced 1 month apart. 1 weekend spoiled by nature would suck. An entire courtship spoiled by nature? Now that's downright heartbreaking!

I'm happy. We had a great gig the other night at a local tavern. The place was packed, and we really rocked the place.

The Cutaways (my band) are really going through some exciting changes. I was getting kind of bored with the same old same old. We are winnowing the country songs from our set list and becoming more of a classic rock cover band. That's fine with me, because it seems like that is what people want to hear. We've added a bunch of new songs that are really fun to play, and people of all ages really respond well to them.

Also, I've been weaned off of guitar and have become full-time bassist. We never really had a bass player, we just used to pass the bass around like a hot potato. We still don't have a bass player...but I'm the next best thing.

Thanks Tad...it does feel good to share Happy Thoughts!

[EDIT] I almost forgot to mention that I bought a Rogue Beatle Bass on eBay, all strung up with flatwounds and everything. I used it at the gig the other night, and it ******* rocked. No sore fingers from the flatwounds and no sore back from the semi-hollow body.

Happy and stressful together, but happy more then not.

The Annual scout troop slide show is nearing completion. But its not nearly far enough along. But it is coming along nicely, so its mostly good I guess.

The value of the guitar I bought just went up another $$200 I just noticed.

I got an offer on one of my old cars.

Best part is Tuna got part of his bonus and paid me back some of the thousands he owes me.

Hey Noize, I just did a gig with the Boy Scouts in Valley Forge. They did their cold weather training out there. I got a good shot that you may be interested in. I know it's not your troop. But, it is still the Boy Scouts.

I'm feeling great at the moment! Business is great! I'm a geologist linked to the construction industry and oddly, we are busier than we have ever been! Also, I've been boxing twice a week since christmas and am now much fitter, feel much better, sleep much better, everything feels better really

Jim, glad to hear it! I miss being in a band so much. It's been over 10 years now. It seems like a lifetime ago! The crickets in my basement are about my only audience now.

Noize, sounds like your finances are looking up. Actual appreciation on a musical instrument?!? Awesome! Must be a good brand. That's why I went Gibson when I bought my last guitar. Next will prbably be either a Martin or Gibson acoustic. But that may still be years away.

JDOD, hats off to ya. Being in good shape both fiscally and physically can do great things for the mind.

Oh, I do have a very happy thought to share, if its not too early (I dont want to jinx it). My wife finally settled with the insurance company to get repaid $100K due to being hit by a car several years ago. The lawyer has been dragging his feet for years now. We finally got stern with him and voila! A few months later, they finally settled out of court. No court appearances! We can finally get out from under the crushing debt of medical bills that we've been swimming in for years now!

Thanks Deebs, I really appreciate it. I've been avoiding the subject for so long now, I have to get used to actually being happy about it!

Congrats Tad, that is indeed good news.

On the guitar, there's a couple pix's in my profile. Its an 87 Ibanez RG-770, the very first year of the Ibanez we all know and love now. Its a limited edition paint. I believe less then 100 made and probably way few left in mint shape.

Jim, glad your getting playing time in. Bass or guitar, its all good.

Rob, that is sweet. I would love to see Valley Forge some day. Never been there, they tell me its nice.

On the cold weather training? Did they get below zero. Tuna Ray and myself have done it several times. Our coldest was 19 below and Ray beat us by hitting 20 below.

I use the term cold weather training here very, very loosely. It was 50 that day. I was running around in just a T shirt.

You can't tell in the photo, but the reenactors are sweating.

50 degrees? I would be in my shorts with a fan blowing on me :) Ok, so maybe that's a little over the top.
