hello, i am pretty new to MIDI and sequencing and that so i was wondering what software/hardware i need to sequence MIDI thru my microkorg using my laptop. i currently have a USB to midi in/out cable connecting the korg to my laptop, is this enough or do i actually need a midi interface? is there freeware available to sequence my synth? what are the advantages of hardware sequencers over software? thanks

It is free to download. It is shareware and eventually they like you to pay for it. Its cheap as well. One of the best shareware DAW's out there.

pjk will come along and pimp it as well.

As for the cable, yes that should get you going.

I'll let pjk handle that one. But there should be a help file that could get you started.
