got a couple of questions i guess before i go ahead.

firstly im gonna throw a pic up of my room currently.
its not really a room more a thoroughfare.
as you can see there are 4 doors and brick tile floor with a high ceiling with slats. this is definatly causing me some grief.

the room you can see down very back is where im considering going.
the dimensions are 8.3 feet by 10.3 and the room slopes upwards to a half apex.
there is a large window taking up one whole wall on one of the 10.3 feet long sides.

just would like your opinion, coz im not sure if im going from bad to worse.

cheers.

I'd use the room you can control more. If the (smaller, right?) room is easier to treat (and it will take quite a bit of broadband treatment to handle a room of that size), it'll probably be better in the long run. Shooting down the short side of the room you're in, live ceiling, big windows, resonant doors everywhere... That's gotta be an aural puzzle.

The big window might be a bit of a problem, but at least it's down a long side. You can use heavy (I mean freaking HEAVY) curtain (thick velour theatrical teaser works well) over the window when you're in there and mirror it on the other long wall.

I tune down down...

If ya have a good look you can see i that curtian covering int he back room.

behind that is a queen sized matress fitted inside the window cavity.
thats pretty thick.
is that what you mean or should i go for the curtain like you said?

the big room "is" driving me nutso, i dont know what the **** is going on from one day to the next in there.

So...for the small room...
place desk in designated spot.
dampen both long walls.
install bass traps where possible.
what about the other 2 walls? leave as is?

cheers for the help.

oh yeah Cynic.
Ha hah ha, yeah man, i upgraded from a cave lave last year.

i miss it.

Ideally, you're going to want to kill as much of the front and rear walls as possible with broadband trapping. You can get away with limited-band (like 2 or 3" foam or theatre curtain) on the sides. Killing the ceiling - at least the front half of the room - would be a pretty grand improvement also.

Mattress foam = bad foam.

Rigid fiber/rockwool in all corners = good thing.
