Ongoing MIDI Problem

I can not find a program that will do what I consider to be a simple function. Maybe I am confused.

I need something that will play back a drum sample of my choice.

I am using a Roland 8 pad/trigger kit with a Roland sound module. I can easily set up a midi track in Cubase4 which does a fine job capturing all of the midi events no problem. C2 kick, C3 tom1 etc. Now having the computer attach reasonable sounds to that midi track for playback and mix-down is the problem. General midi sounds sound like electronic malfunctions. The Halion player that comes with Cubase sounds well... better. I bought Groove Agent3. OoooooPs! It's a drum machine. You can assign 6 drum sounds to a "kit" but the last two sounds must be "percussive" sounds, e.g. hands clapping, feet stomping, cling-clangers, bing-bangers. Really a drag to have to substitute the second crash for some clanging thing that just does not work in the song.

Is there any prog/plug in that will do this? Fruit loops lets me putts around and create a drum beat via the mouse, Groove agent lets me set tempo, groove, style, etc and then just starts pounding away by itself. I really don't need a drum machine.

HELP!

Yep, Native Insturments Battery and DrumCore or KitCore which is the VSTi of DrumCore will allow you to build your own kits. Each pad will accept the dropping in of your sample of choice and even assigning different parameters to the pads such as the trigger key, panning, volume, which output('s) it is assigned to and so on.

I am doing a review of KitCore at the moment and just started to get into it. It has 2 separate sections for the drum pads, a normal drum section with 16 pads and then another percussion section with another 16 pads. Of the two it is the cheaper and comes with some absolutely killer sounds as well as full on midi files from the drummers who belong to the supplied kits. I am absolutely impressed with the amount of data it came with standard.

$125 gets you the deluxe version of KitCore, which I am pretty happy with and find a more then reasonable price for what it can do. www.submersiblemusic.com/

The original DrumCore, which is more then I think you are looking for is based around both the KitCore midi thing and a huge loop library and arranger. That in its current version comes with a huge library and runs over $600 for the full on version with something over 20 gigs of loops and sounds. I think you would be better served to look at KitCore.

Noize, I knew you would come through! Do you have an AIM account? I promise I won't hound you, I just need to get on the right track here.

Go to the HRC chat thingy. I'll sit in there for a bit between TV hopping to catch the score of the game.

I don't seem to have a chatty thingy. I'll try sending you an email. I know it slow, but it will work.
