Can you use amplitube to get a professional sounding tone for rerecording? I mean or is there better software.

We have Amplitube and we have been using it for a while. But we started recording from our amp but we noticed that amplitude sounded a bit better when we mixed we wonder if you can get a professional sound from amplitube? or any vst software because we know some bands use it

The debate is always raging on whether DSP, direct such as a Line 6 or the like unit or the pure miccing of an amp is better. Truth be told, emulating a pure micced tube amp is not an easy task. Line 6 is probably come the closest of any emulation's out there.

Amplitube is no slouch though and you are correct in the thought that it is widely used by many.

Amp Farm was probably the first of the big software based emulation's out there. I believe Lenny Kravitz used it widely on either his first or second album.

Line 6 now has their software version pretty well down and it is called POD Farm I believe.

I've used Line 6 since their first POD and always been very pleased with the end result. But be warned that I have also spent well over 1000 hours or more getting things tweaked to work the way I want.

But bottom line is yes, Amplitube is a fine tool if you are pleased with the sounds you are getting. And there is nothing wrong at all with going that route if the end result is what you are looking for.

Well, I will again beat the poor dead horse of this subject and mention that he asked for "professional sounding" not "tube emulated"...they are not the same thing.

One thing that makes people so hate modelers is they talk about it like it will "sound like" [insert amp here]. When most companies say the sounds are modeled after said amp models. That doesn't mean they are 100% matches, it means the sounds are based on those amps.

That being said, don't look at DSP's as being the same thing, they aren't. One is analog hardware with electrical impulse and properties working with it, the other is software doing what it's programmed to do.

Don't ask if it sounds like another amp, ask if it sounds good.

Some sound great...do they mimic another amp 100%, no, but they do sound good.

I would say if one can get a professional sounding mix with a mic & amp then I think one can do it with the likes of Amplitube, GR, PodFarm etc.

Also, taste is such a subjective thing. What you love in a sound, may sound like caca to someone else.

Also V.2, i heard somewhere that def leppard did one of their albums totally direct in. Not sure if it was modeling or not, but still, no live amps.

Like the Green & Yellow Helmet said, if it's good to you, then it's good.
