Boss BR 1600 CD - Loading

I have had the 1600 for about 2 months now. Everything has worked fine. I recently deleted a bunch of song - mostly just jam and practices, just to experiment, etc...

Yesterday, I deleted the songs/recordings - they where lengthy.

That went fine.

I went into the Utility->HDD->Info...selected a partition and press go.

It started doing the "Now Checking..." in the message window. After about
-I would guess- 85% is "checked" - by indication on the status bar....
the unit FREEZES..and the HDD lite goes into a slow blink.

Turned it off, then ON. Same deal.

Any clues or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I believe there is a set of key presses while powering up that will do a reset of the system. It should be in the manual. But as stated, I'm not absolutely certain if that unit has that function. But Roland is pretty good about that with most of their gear.
