M-Audio Fast Track Pro or USB, or...??

I'm looking to buy an audio interface as a gift. Budget restrictions need to keep it under $200 (and even that might be pushing it) I've been debating between the Fast Track Pro or Fast Track USB, though neither seem to have stellar reviews and I'm wondering if maybe there is something different that would be even better.

It would be primarily used to record guitar, sometimes including vocals or the occasional jam session with a drummer, using a PC (either a desktop running XP, or a Vista laptop) Would the Fast Track USB be sufficient, or would you recommend the Pro? Is there anything else out there in the similar price range that would do better?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Line6 UX2 has been used by many on here, to good ends. Should be right at 200$us, i think.

It's got modeling, so you can play right through your PC as an amp, but also you can model different mics, preamps, cabinets, etc. But no midi.

Tascam has their 122 and 144, both of which have MIDI, in case that's a requirement. Both of those should be under 2 bills.

The M-Audio drivers are a tiny bit flaky yet in Vista depending on the system hardware.

I will second the Line 9 UX-2 as well. They have their drivers pretty stable and are usually on the ball when an update is needed.

I use the UX-2 here a great deal and love it. If you need a link to find it let us know otherwise you can simply jump to www.line6.com and find it in the products menu.

IF you watch especially now you can find it on sale for a pretty good price.
