Crackling sound from MBOX 2?

hey guys were 45 minutes into our first session and were getting a crackling poppy sound in our headphones while there plugged into the mbox 2. the sound starts as soon as the mbox 2 is powered up by the usb cord. even before i open up the pro tools program, so it ahs nothing to do with the program. it makes it even with nothing plugged in. jsut the usb to the computer and the ehadphones in the ehadphones jack i can hear it. its all pretty much brand new and I have no idea where its coming from.. any idea? or anyone else had this problem?

This is happening without any playback or recording running?

That is not a good sign at all. You could check the cables, both USB and the headphone cable to see if either of those is bad. But I am guessing that they are not.

Have you tried doing any playback through it yet?
