This site is, well, interesting.

Just put in your address & your neighborhood map will pop up. Every place
you see a red balloon or thumb tack is the home of a convicted felon.

Just hover your mouse over an icon & not only will the name come up, but
also the crime they were convicted of.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I think about this.

No, I'm not on the map :-)

That's a lot like www.rottenneighbor.com

I'd like to know what their statute is on expiring. I had a felony drug offense 17 years ago, I'm not listed on there.

It's also comforting to know there are three within 1/2 mile of my kids school.

Yeah, there's a couple of real winners within about a mile from me too. The one that jumped out was for SODOMY.

Then again, you don't worry about what you're not aware of.

Oh, this apparently shows WHERE the crimes took place, not where they live...or something...

Not sure what the difference is between the thumbtack and the other icon.

From the site:
We track virtually everyone with a criminal record including sex offenders, ex-cons (felony and misdemeanor), and those guilty of some of the more serious traffic infractions. You have the right to know who your neighbors are. We hope to track persons accused of crimes but acquitted in the future, but at this time we do not have sufficient funding to expand our database that far.

Ask too many questions and who knows, we might be tracking you next.

I’m sorry if you believe a name has been added to our database in error, but our data for this area shows on cross-check as being perfectly current. If a name needs to be removed, it will happen on its own, and there is nothing you can do about it. There are no mistakes in this site, and if you think there is, you’re probably the exact sort of criminal we all need to beware of.

Once a con, always a con, and we’re not about to let you pull a con-job over on us or your neighbors, no matter how strongly worded the letter from your attorney may be. We have volunteer attorneys on retainer, as well as pre-paid legal services, so as far as we’re concerned, your threats are a non-issue.
OK, they're losing me now. These people could be dangerous.

These things only have limited use... it's not really the convicted offenders that you have to worry about... but the first time offenders...background checks only work if the person has been caught before.

That's friggin scary...I don't like this at all the more I read...

The different meaning of the symbols are grossly inaccurate. www.felonspy.com/what-map...r-neighborhood/

These guys are WAY off the deep end.

"Once a con, always a con" - Obviously radical conservatives gone insane...I was recently quoted saying "once a felon always a felon", my reason for saying that was EXACTLY people like this that never let you live down mistake no matter HOW much time passes and how stupid or irrelevant the "crime" was.

The line of "felony" is such a jagged, inconsistent line.

I shoulda known when it showed the 94 year old man across the street as a Sodomy offender. But there is no 94 year old man across the street, its a 30 something couple with 2 adorable kids. And no, no Sodomy ever happened there or in the street.

Go with it dB, go with it!

I found out the data IS out there, but I can't find it in a cross platform syndication format like RSS or XML feed...there are search sites, I looked at Minnesota's DOC and could search for anything and get results, but not in a format I could use...

There HAS to be a way.

Yeah, I know most of the sodomists in my hometown, and those aren't the guys.
