I'll get a listen tomorrow. A bit busy this evening.

Welcome to HRC by the way.

Hey thanks man, I appreciate it! I plan on posting on these forums quite a bit to get my mixing expertise up to par with the rest of you!

So I gotta ask. Are you recording this stuff on base? Just curious.

Honestly for the most part the mixes sound pretty good. I really liked the guitar tone you are getting and the layers are really thick, nicely done on that.

Are you recording real drums or using DFH or similar software? I liked the sound of the kick on Overture Solemn for the smack it has, maybe a little more bottom to it would be good. It is very hard to get teh bass to find its own place in a mix of this genre but a little EQ in the mids to give it a bit more might help divide it from the guitars.

The drums are a little set back, you can hear them but they have a feeling of being a bit far back in the mix. Using reverb on drums in Death Metal is hard because it can easily be over done. You might try a very small room type reverb and a very small level boost to see if that gives them a bit more separation in the mix.

Otherwise, I really liked all the tracks. I'm extremely impressed with the use of the orchestral sounds. Very well arranged and put together.

I'm going to forward you myspace to my son Tuna who is at Ft.Bliss at the moment, but he will probably like what you've done as well.

On an end note for now, I am gong to listen again a bit louder as I'm fighting a bit of a head banger at the moment and don't think my noggin will stand much more volume for the day.

But for now, I have to say these are not bad mixes at all. Maybe a few miner nit picky details but nothing huge that is not easily tweaked. They are very listenable just as they are for sure.

I'll be sending a friend request your way later or tomorrow as well. And also go check out the videos too. I'm curious to see the one were it looks as if your playing in a staff room or something.

I'm not much of an orchestra metal (COB) kinda guy but that sounds pretty damn good and is very well played. If you posted it locally on HRC it could be heard without the extra myspace compression if you really want mix suggestions.

Those drums sound great for using FL for sure. I've not heard anyone turn out Death Metal drums with FL before.

Ya, a tiny reverb might help give it a little more of its own space. You may find you need a bit of EQ as well, but experiment with it first.

As for posting a track here. There is false compression used here, it goes up as it is. So if yo have a 128k or 320k mp3 it goes up as is. Only limitation is size, and I forget exactly what it is. I think 10 megs or something so there is a bit of room.

I'll get back to you on the mastering stuff, kind of busy.

A Marine then I take it, aye? Big ups from us to you then. Many peeps here were and or are Military including one of my sons who is at Ft. Bliss at the moment.
