Sony Acid 6.0

Hi,
I have got a MIDI drumkit which I am trying to use to record tracks for my music. I have tested this in the standalone VST host and its fine, virtually no lagg, but in Acid it laggs horribly. In the standalone host, I can select MME and then the buffer etc, but in Acid I can do neither. Is there anyway you can tell me to reduce the buffer etc so I can get less lagg :)
Anything would be helpful :D

What stand alone VST host are you taling about?

And also, are you using the stock sound card? That can cause latency which is the lag you are hearing.

Im actually using a XtremeGamer made by CreativeLabs. Not the best I know, but being as i've achieved excellent results in the standalone vst host, i should get the same in acid.

The standalone im using is SAVIhost.

Herman still has that stuff up?

Anyway, you might want to go into Acids options/audio section and check to see that the buffer is set down a bit then. maybe 128 or 256.

I'm not exactly sure how SAVIhost was getting zero latency unless you were using the keyboard built into SAVIhost. But if not then ACId should be able to duplicate whatever latency you were getting there.

It was very low, almost nil. I wouldn't say it was zero, but it was beyond human recognition. I dont think anyone would be able to hear the latency. How would i go about reducing the buffer in Acid? Ive gone into acid and audio devices and everytime i try it just doesn't have it. its very strange really.

See if the Creative control panel has a buffer setting. I doubt it but its worth a look.

Otherwise you might want to look at using the WDM drivers or look at trying the ASIO4ALL driver emulation. IT has fixed many issues like this.

But honestly with almost any recording app the SB cards are not going to give real good latency. Not with today's software anyway.

I would strongly suggest getting a beef up on your PC. I use Acid as well, and I can tell you that my stock machines can bairly handle the work load.

I would also strongly suggest staying away from any sound card from Creative. I have had nothing but problems with thier crap products.

Try going with a Turtle Beach sound card. I just had a new machine built for my studio, and the turtle beach works wonders. You can get a decent card from them for around $25.00 to $30.00.

Hope this helps somewhat.
