Recording Delay in ACID Pro 5. Please Help!

Whenever I record a track it comes out delayed. For example: I lay down a drum loop and record my guitar or mic over it. When I play it back, its all off beat. What is causing this lag?
I'm using an M-audio FastTrack USB for my audio input. I have USB 2.0. I'm using Windows XP. ACID Pro 5. Any suggestions? Thanks. I'm new to this.

That is called latency. You need to set your buffer down to about 128 to get rid of the latency or lag.

Thanks.
I tried what you said and it didn't like it. It made recording slow down and lock up...I'm not sure whats going on with this. But I'm going to keep messing with those buffer settings. Thanks again. And thanks for teaching me the terminology.

Adjstuing the buffer should not slow down the audio. It could lock up a loser PC with not enough ram though.

What exactly are the specs of the PC, Processor, amount of ram, etc.?
