Does anyone know of any websites that have listings of the gear used by professional guitarists, bassists etc? You know, stompboxes and and all that.

www.virtualguitarmagazine.com had a few but now is unaccessable.

There is a "talkbass" forum out there. Sorry I don't have the link on me. Some of it's members are performing bassists both electric and double. Both Bass Player and Guitar Player magizines have recording reviews which depict the insturments and gear used by the recording artists. Now here's the rub. Equipment manufacturers pay performers to use their gear for obvious advertising advantages. So, the answer is often, "Whatever gear brings in the most money". What kind of sound are you looking for? How long or short are your fingers? There's a lot to picking out an instrument.

Im just curious really. It'd just be nice to know what pedals are being used on certain songs. I dont actually have any in mind I was just hoping to stumble across something that i might like.

Oh wait. I think I found something useful at http;//www.guitargeek.com

Guitar geek is good, but it would be better if it were updated more frequently.

Yup, Sorry bout that, forgot GetFiddle Player had a website. It is interesting to see what folks use. Some use signal chains long enough to moore a boat. Others, pretty much all in the fingers.

When I still used the old stomp boxes. It was not uncommon to see me with a chain of 13-20 boxes all in a row. Some of them were always on though. But, dating myself here I will say that was before the advent of the rack multiFX processors. Or the floor multis. The only real pedal I have left is my 1960s vintage VOX wah wah, with the chrome pedal. It was hot rodded for me by the GoodGuys to the same specs as the one Clapton used in Cream and Derek and the Dominos. It really screams and bawls. I will be buried with that sucker.
