I searched for about 45 mins and couldnt find a straight answer on this but I was wondering if i could use a drum shield parallel to a wall (not right on it but like 2' away) would that create enough bass trap to kill some of the drums in the studio room.(P.S. i cant really afford office cubicle dividers). Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

you wouldn't want it perfectly parallel I don't think, but yes, it would help isolate the sound.

If your primary concern is the buffering of the drum kit, then I would almost suggest using it as it was intended around the kit itself.

As dB stated you don't want it parallel to the wall, it should be slightly angled wherever the joints are on the shield itself.
