Have at it and let me know what you think, if you will. I will be back later to describe the project a bit more and give some context. But the curious ones can go get it now.

All feedback of any type is appreciated.

Thanks in advance for listening.

Getting an error when I try to download it. And right clicking to save as simply brought an errored file with nothing in it.

I'll try again later, or tomorrow.

coolo, I'm about halfway through listening and holding my tongue until I finish listening. But as of halfway it is cool as coolo can get. I still love the approach you take to keeping it interesting and not over doing it with tons of over the top stuff. Letting the lyrics be that major part of the music. so far I've liked the guest you had on there as well.

Hey thanks Noize. I think there are a couple songs that are not as good as I like, but I left them on the project, cuz you never know who's gonna like what songs. Some people might actually appreciate my trash. Ha ha.

So, some story behind the album...

It's a collection of songs that didn't really fit into any other projects I'm planning, or songs that I thought were below par, or songs I just wanted to get out to the public as soon as possible. Many of the songs are several years old, and the most recent was finished being written (recorded and mixed is a differnt story) last May or so.

So, I'm going to press up a thousand copies of cds in bulk, and get a thousand cardboard cd sleeves and put them together. The plan is to give out the one thousand cds locally and hope that people listen to it. Additionally, as you can see, I've put it up for download, and maybe some people will download it and listen to it.

I conceived, and did the cover art myself, except I used my girlfriend as a photographer. The boombox costume that I'm wearing on my head is my halloween costume from last year. It's just a carboard box covered in tin foil, and drawn upon. I thought it was pretty funny. Boomboxtica is a nickname my friend gave me several years ago when I would carry around the boombox that is in the cover art.

The album is 12 songs, plus one hidden song (Warriors Hat) that will only be available on the physical copy. It is all rap with some singing and a mix of sample based beats and synth based beats. I did about 2/3 of the beats on the album, and used some outside beatmakers for the rest. My favorite song is the first one, and everyone seems to like that one too.

I really appreciate any and all feedback, and if you do download and listen, a short note that you gave it a listen would be much appreciated just so at least I know it's reaching people. If you feel inclined to share it with anyone, please do not hesitate. The main goal here is to be heard!

All the vocals were recorded on my home (literally bedroom) set up, and any beat that I did was on Reason or Project 5. I mixed all vocals and the beats that I did, and mastered the entire album myself. Yay!

While I agree I like the first track as well, i really like the way it is all together as a whole. It just fits well as it is.

I did finally get to the whole thing and Ray got to listen to most of it. When Tuna gets to TX I will forward it to him as well. He is dying to hear it.

Like I said, I like the whole thing as it is just easy to listen to and not get bored and bump ahead on the tracks. Just let the entire thing play through.

So it gets a big thumbs up from here.

I am here to help coolo. :) I am a mean man, so go get yourself a beer. lol.

Ok, here is what I do. I study good songs and pick them apart to find out what makes them tick. When I start to see similarities, I then try to use these ideas. For you, and myself as well, I studied Nelly songs "hot in here" and "Wadsyaname".

Here is what I see that I think you need to have for your songs most of all. Maybe, something to use for your new songs anyway. It is a doozy. It is hard to understand and hard to explain.

Insturments: [1][2][1][2][1][2][3][4]
Vocals: [1 ][2 ][3 ][4 ]

Her is what I count you doing quite often:

Instruments: [1][1][1][2]
Vocals: [1][2][3][4]

The idea here could be thought of as a pizza and the way it is cut into slices. (I am an idiot.lol) If a pizza is cut into 8 slices, that is boring. Now think if that same pizza was cut with one side as a half, the the other side has two quarters, and one of those quarters is cut into eights. See what I am getting at here? This same idea can be used for large phrasing as I show above, but it also can be taken down to little beats within the phrase. The idea is to constantly keep splitting the math of music using different instruments or vocals or whatever.

For an example in another way: The melody of the instruments may be using quarter slices. The bass maybe be using half slices. The vocals may be using whole slices. If everything is using eights as a slice, that tends to get boring real quick.

I hope my examples line up vertically. If they do not, this post may not help at all. If they do not line up, I will see if I can make a pic and find a way to make a link for it.

Oh! You are one talented guy. Way cool, smooth vocals. Wow! :) I wish I had talent like you.

Noize, thanks again for the listen and the cool comments. Excited to hear that the boys have/will listen to it too.

I'm sending off the masters to get replicated today, so will have physical copies in about 2 weeks. Whoop!

Clutz, I appreciate the feedback. I'll have to listen intently to the songs you chose (even though Nelly is not what I consider quality Hip Hop, but I understand where you're going with it). I truly appreciate the time it took you to listen with a critical ear, and respond with well thought out (even if it made me hungry) feedback. I will definitely keep it in mind as I'm writing newer material.

Great coolo, I had a feeling you would say something about Nelly, but I thought man, that sucker sure is rich. lol

Anyway, I made something for use to help explain what I was trying to say above. I have a link here, I sure hope it works. If you have any songs that you like, I can study them for you. Musicians need to be true to themselves, but music is a matter of growth in culture as well. Growth from one persons ideas to another persons if good for us all. If you have any specific song, I can help there too if you like. :)

Here is the link. It actually is stuff I got our of an old college music book from 30 years ago. No matter what style, music is always just one thing.
