I know I can rely on you all to give me the best advice as per usuall.

Saturday I will be playing a small open air concert in a local town here in northern france as part of the annual music festival. It is in the town square next to a large bar, We will be set up facing the bar to play to it's customers.

The PA set up will be as follows

2 x vox, 2 x sax, 2 x guitar, 1 x bass, 1 x drums (mic on snare kick and 1 overhead)

I have 2 x 300w bass bins 2 x 200w mid 2 x high pack (bose 800 series 1 - very old)

Each being fed from a behri cx3400 to its associated amps.

Now would it be better to output in stereo or bridged mono for mid and top. (The bass bins will be bridged mono for sure)

We do not need to create a large stereo field as we area smallish band and do not use stereo effects.

I have always run mono in live shows, stereo is tough to work out with any real effectiveness. I'd rather give the whole audience the whole show rather than where they are sitting in the stereo image. Outdoors this would likely be worse...at least in small clubs you keep all the sound trapped inside, outdoors there is none of that.

At least thats my thought off the top of my head...

thanx dB, quick as ever!

So in that case would i send all channels to one output say left and nothing to right, panning each channel then through one side of the eq to one side of the xover then to one side of the amp to be used as bridged mono on each.

Sorry for the need to explain my interpretation of your answer but it helps in my head,

This in effect would then give me more power would it not as each amp can be bridged and all my speakers are 8ohm, therefore giving 4ohm per amp (2 x 8ohm speakers) as the speakers are would be wired in parallel

pan them center and use both outputs (L and R)

you'll have two identical mono signals commin' out of each side.

Just remember, when running in a bridge mono mode, you are tying the +15 and the -15 rails together.

This translates in to an *** load of power.

Don't forget to check the power output rating at ohm load of your amp for bridge mono.

You could be doing damage.

As far as what out put to use for mono. Only use the left. Unless your board has a mono out.

Other wise, you need a summing amp to combine the left and right together.

Without an combiner, you can easily run into a +10 situation on the output to the crossover.

thanks for the reply's ---- now I am confused,

Rob, The amps and loads will be OK (I Think !! ) So you are saying that I would be better just using one side of the desk, eq and xover??
