I think it's damn good. How did you get your Kick to stand out so well? When I record for our band the Kick is always a thud, thud with no life.

The click on the kickdrum is what makes it cut through so well. I have found two spots that usually work well for this. 4K boost for a nice click and 9K for that really high ticking tone. Removing a few db around 350 (for my kick) really removes most of the thud\plap that I don't like.

This kick on the other hand, sounds like there is some drum replacement or triggers being used.

I think the song sounds pretty good honestly. My only beef are the backup vocals, they don't fit to me as there is no projection. Try cranking the heck out of his headphones so he really has to belt it out. So much power going then a halfhearted backup vocal just don't mix.

BTW, what is the band name?

sounds great but theres a couple issues:

1. tempo problems... in metalcore you pretty much have to be a metronome... everything has to be precise because thats what really makes it interesting. But it takes practices...lots of practice...

2. The backup vocals were pretty bad :) However there's a couple common ways to handle it in metalcore:

The Indistinguishable Chorus:
(As I Lay Dying - Sound of Truth)

The 'Man Chorus':
(August Burns Red - Composure) example at 2:40

And then The Emo Guy Chorus:
Devil Wears Prada - Hey John Whats Your Name Again?

My suggestion is to cram the background vocals into an autotuner until they're right and then dump a bunch of effects on it... so its in between Emo Guy and Indistinguishable

dude... we redid the song completely. im not planning on changing anything that was from 3 yrs ago. i was just seein what people thought as far as quality. matt couldnt sing if his life depended on it back then, plus we have a crapload of way better equipment now.

ANYWAYS (oh and that song is one of the softest songs we wrote)

the reason why the kick comes in so clear is because i taped quaters to it and used wooden beaters, i scooped out a lot of mids, boosted around 60Hz and 80Hz for some bass and around 7.5Khz and 11Khz for more snap. also, on my gate that i used for it, u can boost one specific frquencey by 20db... i did a high herts for that slap sound.

no i do not use triggers though... there's a program called drumagog that id like to use, but the damn thing isnt working so i have to deal without it.

the name of the band is Everyth

I have drumagog, it is fantastic. Honestly though, I find myself using it less and less as I gain a better understanding of proper mic placement and EQ techniques.

And yeah, I didn't expect you to re-record it or anything, but you did ask for comments :)

no its just, that was recorded 3 years ago... my bands finally puttin out an album, so we re-recorded everything we've ever done.im puttin a new song up here from our CD very soon. i think ive come close to bein done, but i want to hear you people's opinions and advice first before we start sellin it.

i love the way drumagog works, but not too long ago, my VSTs stopped workin. im gonna end up tryin to reinstall sonar but ive just been too lazy. but because of all this, i definately got real good at mic placement.

as far as EQing, i just learned a new technique a few nights ago that seems to be really helpful, on a parametric EQ! instead of boosting certain frequencies that u like, decrease the bandwidth as much as possible, boost that all the way, then find the frequencies u dont like at all, scoop it some, and increase the bandwidth until all the nasty sound is out of the mix... it gives u less to worry about clipping too.

Actually, that is pretty much the way I do drums. Narrow the Q, sweep the problem area, scoop it and widen :)
