OK, I am going to replace my current amps for the practice room set up and small gig PA (being that they are one of the same)

The speakers I have are as follows

350w full range cabs x 2 8ohm

Peavy bass flex bins 15" 150w 8 ohm x 2

Bose 800 series mid/tweeter 8ohm x 2

The theoretical set up is either the full range cabs or peavy & bose together, how ever I wouldn't mind If I could use all speakers together for slightly larger gigs (outdoors maybe)

I have the behringer cx3400 filter unit and eq for FOH output.

I realise that to use all 3 sets of speakers I assume I woul need three amps and have a 3 way stereo set up - am i correct in assuming this???

WHat I would like to know is what would be the best option for an amp purchase to give me the best flexability, pressuming I base it on the full range 350 watt speakers

As a point of note, the system is used mainly for vocals, very occasionally the kick/snare/oh may be used together with sax and keys

Ya, your headed the right way for sure.

I know Rob would be the best for suggestion's on this but I'll toss out my 2 cents worth.

I would possibly look for an amp specificly for the bass bins that has a built in cross over so you will not need to rack up another piece of gear. Then you can purchase the 2 other amps to fit the wattage needs.

Remember to get an amp that has enough power or more then needed as an under powered amp will sound like crap when cranked up and can run itself into the ground if used frequently at high levels.

Ya, noize has this one. Under powering your system will lead to square waves.

A square wave tells your amp to go to full power, hold that full power, then release it.

So, you can see what that is doing to your speaker. HEAT, and lots of it.

The only thing I would suggest. Is a delay unit. This way you can time align your system together. That way you won't have any lobing.

You have an excellent opportunity to incorporate a Driverack PA also. I got one of these units a about 6 months ago, and I can't believe the difference it has made in our Live sound by leaps and bounds. It's a little pricey, around $500, but what a difference.
