I liked this 20 minute presentation, and found it informative, and interesting. Curious on all of your thoughts.
... talks about consumerism, and production, and the cycle of products, and it's impact on our world and communities. It is an eye opener if you don't already know all this info.

May 20, 2008 06:47 pm very good so far, but her view of manufacturing/production is very sensationalistic...still, decent points.
Quite an unspoke shot at WalMart.
I'll have to watch the rest later, not bad though.

May 20, 2008 10:10 pm funny how the world becomes a 'happy place' once government and corporations are removed... :)

May 20, 2008 10:26 pm I'd also like to add that this video offers no solutions to anything.
So... brand new... I offer a forum for people to discuss practical and realistic solutions to 'sustainable community' type stuff....

May 21, 2008 01:00 pm ha ha, yeah, the end of the video says something like, click here to get involved, or something... I didn't click there. But I'm about to check out your link zek.
May 21, 2008 01:02 pm at the end of the day I think there is only one real logical solution, and that rests at the consumers level, we need to stop being so incredibly materialistic...
In the end the consumer control a lot of it, if we don't buy it, they won't make it...
May 21, 2008 04:29 pm i agree 100%
hehe remember that SNL sketch where 'tori spelling' was asking bill clinton "where's my stuff, how come everyone else has stuff"....i bet i can dig it up.

May 21, 2008 10:29 pm OK then, no more buying stuff for me. I'm sewing all my money into the lining of my futon and sleeping with it instead of spending it.

May 22, 2008 11:33 am Ah, but that's the American way. We do absolutely nothing, and then we panic when sh** happens, complain, and point fingers at those we believe are guilty.
Really though it's just 'stuff' and really not that importnat when it comes down to brass tacks. What's most important is people, family, friendships etc. The rest is just stuff.
However, as I mentioned, we will continue to consume great quantities until it all runs out, and then we'll blame someone else.
