Best is such a relative term =).

as is breaking the bank =) =).

MXL has some condenser mics for 100$us or so. I thought they had a 70$us one too, but i'm not sure now.

Behringer has some low-cost condensers, for close to that.

I've used studio projects (B3, C1) and like them pretty well.

Rode has a NT1A that a lot of people like for around 200$.

Audio Technica has the AT2020 that many like much, I believe Noize2U has one, and likes it much for a beginner LDC. Around 200$ as well.

also, put in your gear profile, so we know what you're working with, or starting from.

(see my profile, for a basic idea).

An Audio Technica AT 3035 is a very good mic to fill in a vocal niche with. It is a good price and an all around mic that can be used in many places other then strictly vocals.

Ditto Noize on that one.

I don't have a huge amount of experience with all of the latest models of mics, but I can tell you the AT3035 is a solid performer for voice. It makes me sound like God.

Well....maybe Charlie Manson.

You're not giving us a clue here muzika. One, if you have time, fill out your bio with your present gear. This will help with matching things up, so to speak.

From there, some questions might be: Male, Female, both? Your intended budget? Genre'? There are a ka-billion mics out there.

Walt, if ya look at her avatar she is definitely female. I checked her profile already and knew that though.

But Walt makes a good point with that. Like what type of music are you going to be recording and such. Equipment you have already is a help as well.

I see ya got the avatar thing figured out as well. Nicely done.:-)

Yes Noize, appears female for sure, but then I've been to CA. Regardless, I was thinkin possibly that there could be male vox in there too. I've seen it done before. Hell, if it's country maybe even a howlin dawg or too!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Back to the doghouse.

I've recently been using an AKGC1000S on vocals. I don't have much to compare it to, but I do like it's tone a bit better than my MXL mics.

I also have a C1000S, pretty decent mic. Have used on vox, overheads and acoustics.

yeah that mic is great on acustics. I actually pair it with a shure sm94 for acustic and overhead sounds.
