I hope everyone is doing well...I haven't posted in a while, so I'm busily going through all the posts and trying to catch up!
I just uploaded a new song on my profile...it's the only one up right now. Called "Catchphrases". Take a listen if you get a chance and let me know what you think of the song, the mix, etc. Thanks!

May 06, 2008 07:51 am Thermo,
Good to hear from you again...welcome back!
The song sounds like vintage Thermo to me. I'm only listening on computer speakers, but the mix sounds very well-balanced to me. The acoustic guitar is sparkling and full, and the vocals sound great. I love the harmonica...very Neil-like. Lyrically, very interesting...I need to listen to it a few more times to really get the whole picture.
All in all, excellent work to my ears!
May 06, 2008 02:49 pm Hey Jim! Good to see you again.
I was surprised at the sound of the acoustic guitar...it's amazing what an actual good (expensive) guitar sounds like compared to the budget models. This was the debut song for the new guitar (a Martin).
Thanks for taking a listen.

May 06, 2008 09:50 pm I gotta agree with Jim on this. The harmonica does add a lot to it for sure. Nice guitar sound for sure. Nice sound on the vocal as well. I really liked the separation of each guitar part, they are easy to pick out each part.
I as well will be listening some more for sure. Downloaded and inserted into a playlist already.
May 06, 2008 11:52 pm Thanks Noize! Glad you enjoyed it.
The guitar separation surprised me...normally they don't separate that well unless I double the main rhythm track and then pan them hard R/L. This time though, I'm using a 70/70 panning scheme, with the arpeggiating guitar at 35R. Surprisingly, this didn't seem to overload the right channel.

Definitley a nice sound on the guitars and vox. I like the harmonica part as well, it does give it a bit of a Neil sound touch. Nice job on the song writing, good one indeed!

May 07, 2008 09:23 pm Hey olddog! Hope all is well. Thanks for the compliments.
I just noticed a problem in the mix tonight...about the 1:36 to 1:51 marks, there's this constant noise in the background...which unfortunately I think is the ringtone from my cell phone when my girlfriend calls (Nirvana's "Drain You", appropriately enough).
Frig. I'm not sure which track it's on. If it's on the harmonica track, that's easy enough to snip out. If it's on the arpeggioed guitar...that could be problems.

Also checked out your Soundclick page, the song 'Old Computer Games' has been stuck in my head since last night, great chorus
