so my soundcard has been acting funny...when i record it sounds bit muffled,im thinkin the preamps are going because ive unplugged my mic a few times with phantom power on...
i was gonna get the mbox but i was wondering if it would be worth getting the mbox 2?or is it basicly the same as one?or should i just get the mbox mini?watst he difference?
preciate any help

That shouldn't be a problem for start's. I do it, and I've never heard of it damaging anyones equipment.
Mbox wise, 'I think' they changed the pre's from focusrite to M-audio from 1 to 2. And the mini only has 1 mic input. But I'm pretty sure they'll both run PT 7, although you may have to upgrade to 7 if you buy an Mbox1.
May 02, 2008 11:28 am colonel_sanders is correct about the pre's being focusrite in mbox1, i have had both and actually liked the sound of mbox 1 better. Any reason you want mbox rather than other interface? May be able to get something better for your money.

May 02, 2008 05:56 pm If your mic takes phantom power, always make sure it is indeed turned off before plugging or unplugging your mic. I haven't heard of it messing up the pre, but you can potenially kill a mic that way. I've done it.
May 02, 2008 09:28 pm well ive tried other mics so it has to be the sound card because im getting the same sound...teh reason i wann mbox is because i wana run with protools...unless u can change my mind?but ur saying the only diffences between the mini is the mic inputs?because i only need 1 mic input
