hi there
i am running sx3 and have a midi problem
can anyone help me with this problem???

when i start cubase up i can record midi just fine, but after recording 2 or 3 parts it does an unusual thing.

when i go to record another part all of the notes are dumped together in one position on the time line.

the only way i can solve this at the moment is to close cubase and start up again.
then i can record another couple of parts before the problem occurs again which is quite enoying when i am having an isperational moment,

if anyone can help i would be most greatfull
cheers
Daryl (ultra-phonic)

It sounds as though there is a problem in the midi implementation in Cubase. The problem may be related to the actual install and several file may be missing or corrupt. It is not a common problem to see if you can do 2 or 3 tracks and then it bunks out like that pretty much points to a bad installation.

I know this isn't the answer you want to hear but it sound like the best option is to un-install Cubase completely. That means clean out the references in the registry and all folders created must be deleted. Then do a fresh install.

You can save any created files that are in Cubase created folders and then move them back after the re-install.

I am getting exactly the same problem, I re-installed cubase and now I can record 3 parts befre it all jumps to one locaton, before I did it all the time. I would love to know what the problem is.
Thanks

at my friend's studio where i work sometimes, was having a similar problem with midi timing......and i found the solution while trouble shooting..... i hope this help u all too...he uses nuendo 3 and has a emu 1212m .....i guess the settings will be in the same place as in sx 3.....ok here it is..... go to "Devices" then "Device Setup" then when the device setup window pops up u will see a folder named "midi" on the left hand side and under that u see "directmusic" and "windows midi" ..... click on directmusic, u will see midi devices (if u have) on the right had side and under that u will see a box option named "use System timestamp" tick it if its not ticked already.... and do the same in the "windows midi" section..... i hope this helps
