Looking to expand number of imputs

So, I have the ESP1010 and want to expand the number of inputs. My questions are as follows,

1. Could I use the ESP1010 with an Audioterminal 010 from esi ( looking to buy the Behringer ADA800 for ADAT out to the Audioterminal) and would I be able to use both at the same time in SONAR6

2. Would it be better to buy another ESP1010, and could they be used together at the same time in SONAR6

Alternatively any other suggestions to getting more inputs at resonable cost

Cheers Then!

I'm just not sure about this one. I am looking on the ESI website and am not finding any I\O that would allow linking another device. It looks to have optical out, but does it have optical in?

The 1010 has only optical out (i believe)

I suppose I was thinking that as they are both pci cards then maybe - hopefully be able to select which inputs and cards through the sonar panel.

From what Noize said to an earlier post the 2 x 1010 can be used together.

a lot of ESI gear can be used in tandem...it's part of their eWDM driver spec...ESI writes some of the best performing drivers I've personally ever worked with.

I though I read that too.

from their site, regarding the I/O thing:
The MI/ODI/O is designed to be used with MAYA44, Waveterminal 192L, Waveterminal 192X or Waveterminal 192M as an add-on.
no esp1010, bummer.

On the ESI board, I found this thread, with a reply from someone in ESI (Claus)
(look below, to follow the thread to Claus' reply)

forum.esi-audio.com/show....=0&msg=4399

I'd not hold my breath, but it may be possible. Sounds like expirementing would be in order.

Just for the record, yes you can use multiple ESI interfaces together without any problems. The panels expand and will work together the same as with M-Audio older devices like the Delta 44 and 66 and such.

This is the reply from 'claus' @ ESI ......

I'm sorry, but no ... it is not possible. At least not in any way it would make any sense and certainly not intended in the way as requested by the user asking the original question.

You are describing how to sync the ESP1010 (or MAYA44 MKII for that matter) to an external clock. Of course it is technically possible to install 2 cards in the same system, and syncing them might be a good idea, but actually using them simultaneously (i.e. having 1 device with more input channels than before) is not possible. My statement is correct especially for ASIO, GSIF and WDM/KS applications. Yet, it is technically possible to use the two cards with standard MME supporting apps, but at a latency due to high buffer sizes that is not in any way acceptable for most users.

We never advertised that ESP1010 (or MAYA44 MKII for that matter) can be cascaded to another PCI card, so I do not think why it should be mentioned in the manual.

This has got me confused - Is he saying it isn't possible, but you are saying it is?????

Sorry to be a pain

Also it is possible to select multiple cards in Sonar, isn't it???

Sorry for not getting back here sooner on this.

I have both the ESP 1010 and 192m and have used them both at the same time running the WDMks drivers. ASIO is picky about using only one interface but I got them both working with the WDMks drivers as stated.

Now take that with a grain of salt as that was with the first release of the 1010 driver version. They may have changed something along the way.

And yes, Sonar will run several interfaces at once.

Thanks for the heads up, I have a slim chance of getting another ESP1010 for a very reasonable price, so here's to hoping!!!!
