Updated my "Gear" section... Think it's a good start for someone who will just be 20 in a few days?

Decent setup for sure. If you get into the higher track count that laptop will be your weakest link.

Thank CPT. Like your setup as well... The Laptop already cracks at me now. :( Hoping to get a new Puter for my B-day.

Nice set up.

I'm a bit mystified why you'd spend $2000 on Nuendo 3 when Sonar/Cubase would get you into the game for about a quarter of that (money to spend on the new laptop!). The extra bells and whistles in Nuendo won't really come into play for a while.

Yeah, stop being a pussy ***** and buy an actual program. What kind of stupid *** would make a post bragging about his gear, and include his stolen piece of software as the centerpiece?

Wow... You Bearded Buddha f*ck... It really was a gift. A friend had bought it for his studio then, decided that he wasn't going to use it and knew I needed to upgrade from Cubase LE. Soooo, I bought it for dirt cheap just 'cause he was helping a friend out.

I'm sorry that we can't all be as wealthy as we are huge, Anarchist...

Okay, that was uncalled for... But, shi*.

"Nuendo 3 is another huge step in the development of Steinberg's professional media production system. With an extensive set of new features for audio post production including AAF support, a new set of media management tools, Pinnacle X-Send integration and Warp to Picture functionality, plus many new features for top-level recording studios and surround producers. Nuendo 3 is one of the most powerful tools for any kind of media production available anywhere.

Mac/Win CD - Free Shipping $698.99"

Shut up... Geez. I bought it from him for $400 and a mic. Not sure what he spent on it... But, 4 was out already so I know he didn't get it the day if came out or something. Want to know where I was born too??

You're as retarded as your music is tasteless.

Ok, fair enough, I was mistaken. It just gets me riled up every time I see a post like this, 'cause 99% of the time the person posting is a no-good software pirate, and posting phrases like this:

"Errr umm.... Ugh... it was a gift? :P"

..makes it sound quite a bit like you've stolen the software. Add to the fact that you made a post entirely to get compliments on your modest setup, and you basically sound like a million other jerk teenagers that come into messageboards like these just to post stupid ****.

As for your personal insults regarding my physical appearance, mental abilities, and musical taste, I have no idea way you've brought up such un-related crap to this conversation, but it does make you sound like a hormonal ******* teenager (which I'd imagine you are). If you're going for that sort of thing, by all means keep it up. Although I'd recommend finding other things to make fun of someone for besides their facial hair or their sweet band. If I really wanted, I could post a bunch of stupid **** about you too, but that would bring me down to your level...

Listen, yes, the comment sounded like a piracy deal, I agree, but you attacked him and he attacked back, you jumped to a wrong conclusion and he defended himself, now both of you shut the hell up with the insults and get back to the subject at hand.

If he'd just defended himself, it wouldn't be an issue.

If you just said it sounded like he pirated it it wouldn't have been an issue either.

Now drop it.

Anyway, again sorry for the wrong conclusion. Back on topic:

Yeah, your equipment's fine. How are your recordings?

Technically, the academic version is that price, full price for Nuendo 3 is still ~17-1800.

Just curious, what did you buddy switch to after he found Nuendo was not his cup o tea?

Well, he never used the program. It was still shrink wrapped when I got it. He just stayed with his Cubase. Not sure which version he was using. (His studio is now closed.)

Recordings are okay Anarch... Just wish I could bypass the pre's in my FireStudio so I could use external ones and just use their converters.

Really? I'd heard that the firestudio's pre's were pretty decent.

Does it have an spdif in or anything?

Yeah, it has SPDIF, Lightpipe, and an AUX in. But, don't have other gear to utilize those yet.

The pres in the firestudio should accept 1/4" TS plugs in the center of the XLR input.

This 1/4" input will be LINE level input. Which should not utilize the preamp circuit, just the routing after the preamps.

Don't see why you couldn't use a standalone preamp, and plug the output into the FS 1/4" input.

Oh really? I didn't know that it bypassed them. But makes sense. Ha. Man, that makes for a kewl idea. THe pre's in it are really good. I'd just like the option to use an external one.

Thanks PJK.

Part of me thinks that you'll still be using part of the preamp circuit, but very little.

A block diagram of the FS should show you where (or if) the line input lives within the preamp circuit.
