Hey all, decided to redo Comfortably Numb using my Digitech Vocalist Live. I stripped out the drums and keyboards and came up with this version tha focuses on vocals a bit more.

Its in my profile if you get a chance to check it out.

Sweet! The vocals sound great, and right on pitch! I love the way the harmonies sound. This is very cool!

Which model of the Digitech Vocalist do you have?

Hey Jim, thanks. I have the Vocalist 2. Works really well. About the only thing I noticed is there is a bit of noise when using the harmony setting but it doesn't seem to appear on the track. I guess cause the harmonies are burried a bit. It is a lot of fun to be able to pull somehting like this off live though. Really fills things out.

Sounds pretty damn cool to me. I love the huge reverb with the tail. That adds a dreamy feel to it for sure. Pretty interesting effect for sure. I think it turned out great. I'll be listening to this one again for sure.

That reverb is the built-in reverb on the Vocalist. I think I used a studio setting but I honestly don't remember for sure. Basically its just right out of the box. I took out the drums and keys just to highlight the vox but now I think I will leave it as it is a bit more of a twist on the original.
Gotta get away from the covers though. Time to get back to our own stuff. As fun as cover stuff is, it is kind of a waste. I've started re-working some of our old tunes now that I have a bit more skillz (and gear!).

Cheers!

Speaking of your original tunes, how is the CD coming?

Very nice BH ! Agree with Noize on the verb... just right . Killer guitar work, too ! About the only thing I would alter is the chorus-backing vox... it seems the harmonie section from that Digitech thingy could come down just a bit, as I can hear the 'process' of it... just a 'lil bit .

Very cool version, though... would do very well in a live context !

Hey Noise, the EP had stalled out a bit. I had to take a break from it for a bit. I now have returned back to the project and just have to finish mastering. I'm hoping that this is THE month but we'll have to see. Time seems to be so short these days.

Hue, thanks for the comments. The "processing" that you hear is something I still need to work on. I don't think this unit will perform very well in the studio (in general). For live however, I think it will work great. It is a bit noisy when using the harmonies though. Again, I'm not sure if it is the unit or just that I don't know how to use it properly yet. We'll see. I have another 3 weeks before I have to return it if I don't like it.

Ya, I was just wondering how it was coming along. You hadn't mentioned it if a little while and I was just gazing at the cover art on the 61 and it reminded me to ask.
