Hey guys,
I've got a quick question here. I started using this VST effect (www.soundfonts.it/?a=read&b=26) and it as the ability to let you control the parameters live using a midi control. I can't seem to get my midi keyboard working with the VST effect. The MIDI keyboard works well with VST instruments, but for some reason nothing happens when I try to use it with this (or any) VST effects. Do I need to link them up somehow or is it in a property or parameter somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Mar 21, 2008 01:27 pm I'd be curious about this myself. I can use my MIDI controller to control VST instruments but I haven't tried it as a controller for VST effects paramaters.
I've been able to mess with VST effect paramater automation though. If you right-click on a track and select "show automation" it'll expand the automation track. In that track you can pick a paramater from your VST plugin and enable automation writing. Then play your song and adjust the knobs and you should see it writing changes to that automation track. Upon the next playback, disable the write (red W) and enable the read (green R). Then it should perform whatever adjustments you made.
I don't know how to get a MIDI controller to do this though.
Mar 21, 2008 01:47 pm Yeah, I'm positive that you can control the VST effect with a MIDI controller as the effect I'm using as "MIDI learn" functions to making setting up things easy. However, this function won't work since the effect doesn't see my controller. If I can solve that problem, controlling it will be easy to setup and use.
The reason that I want to use the MIDI controller to control the effect rather than using automation is that this way I can get different effects naturally and organically; just as if I was moving the knobs on a real tape delay.
Mar 21, 2008 01:56 pm You have to map the controls. Sometimes the install cd will come with templates that you can apply.
