Yep, watched it. Pretty good race, not spectacular but good. Pity is there are so many new young drivers now and most are going to need the full season to learn to drive these cars now without TC and engine braking. That was a huge part of why these were the fastest cars in the world. Now though I have to admit it falls on the drivers that actually can drive a car.

Do you remember how Micheal Schumacher used to turn off the TC and just drive because he felt the car responded to him better without it on. I doubt we will ever see another driver like him though. Although Kimi is on that level I think he depended on Traction Control more and is now going to need to really use the skills he learned from Micheal. I've been a big Ferrari fan for years and its a bummer to see them struggle this year.

I can't wait to see them race for the first time under lights in Singapore though. That should be a killer race. The track is spectacular to say the least and should make for great racing.

Before I die I want to be able to go to Monaco and see the race there though as well.

I've been to Monaco. I went in '02 or '03 (The year DC one the race).

Was such an amazing atmosphere. So loud round the city streets, and its all open at night so you can just walk round the track and there are loads of people with Ferarris and Lamboghinis just driving round having a laugh. Great Atmosphere.

Kimi is still just as fast, I think he was just getting frustrated 'cos he was in with a chance of a win with his fuel stratergy but then he was stuck behind Barrichello for ages and then the 2ns safety car worked out really badly for him.

They are still the fastest cars around a circuit, just takes a little more skill to get them there now.

I'm jealous, that would have been awesome to see them at Monaco. I want to see them if they come back to the US. I'd like to see them at a different track though. Maybe Road America, that would be a great track for them.

I always enjoyed seeing Kimi and JPM battle it out. Those are two of my favorite drivers. Too bad it didn't work out too well when they were both at Mclaren though. I would like to see JPM in Formula 1 without traction control. He's not afraid to slide the car around a bit.

I dont think JPM would have cut it without TC, I think he'd have been even more erratic. He used to lean on the TC a lot! But he was always fun to watch.

I think the younger guys, and rookies will adjust quicker, 'cos well they wont really have to adjust as they have not had TC in the lower formulae. The lap times aren't any slower this year, the drivers are just more prone to get caught out if they are not concentrating 100% or are being too agreesive.

The thing that has made the most difference with the standard ECU is not having a programable diff. THey used to be able to have the diff automatically chaging set up for each corner but now they have to find a diff setting they are happy with and use the same setting for a whole lap, so its inherantly a comprimise. I prefer it like this though. I will be good in a couple of years when they are alowed KERS systems, then we'll see the horsepower start to rise rapidly. At the moment they have been pegged back to about 750bhp out of an NA 2.8l V8. When they add KERS they will develop the technology (still in its infancy really) sooo fast. The Federation will be stepping in before long to counteract this of course.

Looks like we are losing our Granprix.

The Aussie F1 loses about 4 million every year.

Ya, I would like to see another US GP but at another venue for sure. That track was just too slow and not really technical enough to challenge the drivers.

Ya, Rubins has completely lost his edge. I think Micheal was the driving force that made him perform so well. But indeed Kimi and Massa make a good team. Massa just needs to get more confidence and he'll be more competitive. He has already proven himself as a winner so it is just a matter of time.

I agree though that the rookies will have an edge as things move forward seeing as they have not had the TC so they don't miss it. But the HP is far above what they came from.

I really like the look of some of the new cars this year with all the new ground effects. And indeed I really liked watching the race as they slid around and it was more of a drivers race.

I'm jealous of you getting to Monaco though. Indeed it is one rich place.

I could as well see the race moving to Syndey, that would be a very good venue.

Any one into the V8 super cars down there, I love watching them as well. I think Nascar is getting the point that those big cars benefit well from the ground effects and is moving in that direction, though it will be a slow process getting to that level.

Oh ya, on JPM. If you liked watching him in F1 you should see the madman drive in Nascar now. He is all over the place. I expected him to do better on the road courses but he hasn't faired that well on them as of yet.

Alright, race fans! I love the Aussie V8 supercar series, I'm also a fan of the German DTM series.
I have been a little disappointed in JPM performance in Nascar. I mean Nascar drivers are far more talented than they are given credit for but I seriously thought JPM would do great on the road courses too.

Yeah Monaco is a crazy place. I've done it once and it wil be a long time before, if ever, I make it there again. I was so expensive. My mum got the tickets for my dad for his 60th birthday. Obviously my dad took me instead of her. We went to the Hotel du Paris in Casino Square for a drink. Seeing as I was getting a free trip if offered to get my dad a gin and tonic, I ordered us a drink each and got charged 50 Euros!!! Thats about $85!

Ya, I agree that the Nascar drivers are still looked upon as kind of hick like. They are far from it. Look at Dale Jr. He is one popular dude and really gives a good image to the sport. Not that there aren't others, but he is more in the spotlight sometimes.

And ya, I can well imagine that Monaco is very expensive for sure.

I've played V8 Supercars on the x-box.

Does that count?

I would guess so, yes. Nascar on the PS is brutal as was F1. I liked the old PS version of F1. And the Genisis version of Grand Prix. Both were kind of cool for their time.
