Hey all, we did a cover of Hotel California the other night (in my profile). This was done with my Roland VS-2400. Not a perfect performance but it was captured pretty good with the V-Studio.
Cheers.

Mar 15, 2008 06:57 pm Not bad BH, the recording and mix is pretty good, the vox were a little laid back for my taste for that particular song, but well done. Nice tone on the lead guitar, it comes thru nice and clear.

Mar 15, 2008 07:14 pm Ya, my vox are too laid back for this. I would like to try a re-take and get some more oomph behind them. Still getting use to this singing thing.

Mar 16, 2008 06:51 pm I never thought I would here a trippy version of this song. You have done a good version I would say is pretty trippy. Its the slow tempo that gives it kind of a stoner rock feel.
I as well liked the lead guitar sound. I think the vox were laid back but it fit the tempo for sure.
A little fixing up and it will be a killer version for sure. I think you got a pretty decent capture as well. Nicely done.

Mar 17, 2008 10:53 am Hey noise, thanks for the feedback. It is a trippy version. Nothing too serious with this song though. It was just something we were messing with during last practice. We will be swapping out the backing vox that we have on there now with a re-take including Chelsea's vox. That will make it even more trippy. We don't plan on spending a lot of time on this however as we are working on 4 more originals right now.
This was a bit of a challenge in the sense that it was all recorded and mixed in the V-Studio.

Mar 17, 2008 05:32 pm Sounds good, all mixing stuff aside, I think the captures sound great and can't wait to hear where this ends up.
I know some people frown on this, but my oomph comes after about 3 quickly drank beers. Not drunk, but loose.

lol - you know, on this track I intentionally stayed away from the brewskies. Now I know what I did wrong. This may be the best technical advice ever given - lol
Cheers! haha

Mar 17, 2008 09:51 pm Ya, thats the thing with using something like the V-Studio. It does take a little more work to get a track in that is just right. I honestly don't know why that is either. Everyone I know that uses one flies the stuff into the PC right away to edit. Although I know a couple guys that don't mind editing on the little screen. It would drive me nuts now though. but then again, I never thought I would see the day that I wouldn't be cutting tape either.

I've connected a 17" LCD to it so no problem there. It is a new challenge but I like it. It seems to take me closer to the source. Not sure why but it does.

Mar 17, 2008 10:54 pm Ya, but can you hook up a mouse? That would make it more sale able to me.
But ya, just having a larger screen to edit on would be a big plus.

Mar 18, 2008 12:38 pm Yeah, I was looking pretty hard yestereday and the monitor\mouse\keyboard option for the roland is quite nice.
