Mixer (Yamaha mg206c-usb or Mackie 1604 VLZ3)

Hi
I'm new to this so if i asked weired questions please bare with me.

Anyway, here is my dilema. I've got myself M-Audio Delta 1010LT on my computer and i'm thinking of buying a mixer to use with it. i've come across the two mixers Yamaha mg206c (it doesn't matter with/without USB) and Mackie 1604 VLZ3.

These maybe too big of a mixer for small home recording, but i also want to use the mixer for live events. These two mixers are within my budget, so if there are any suggestions, i'll greatly appreciate it.

BTW, i've got Adobe Audition 2.0 installed but if there are any others software recommendation, it'll be great.

I own a mg16/4, and have played with/thru a mackie onyx.

I'd probably lean to the mackie. Industry standard, I'd say.

Hi, i've tried both of them, ill say i like the yamaha sound a bit more, and i also think they are better constructed, there is something about the "cheap" (although no that cheap) series of mackie that i dont like. But again thats just my opinion, try going to a guitar center or something like that and ask the salesman to let you try both of them, look at the construction by turning knobs, moving faders, etc, the one that feels more "solid" is probably going to last longer, and also try hearing the preamps (you may need a mic for this since CD's are not that obvios at first glance), try using the Eq's and decide which one you like best, and then, make your decision. I hope this helps

Hey guys, thanks for the reply. Haven't been able to get on the computer awhile and was unable to check the forum. But just another question, is the USB feature on the yamaha compatible with any software? i've also try sites to read reviews on the two mixers but very little turn up on Yamaha. Maybe because it is a newer board?

I tune down down...

I don't know much about either mixer but a friend of mine SWEARS by the Yamaha-Steinberg combination. Maybe cause they bought Stein? :P

I run Cubase Nuendo. So, I vote for it for GREAT software.
