I have $200 to spend on an interface. I am considering the E-Mu 0404 USB because of it's software bundle. I ruled out the Mackie bause it doesn't have midi connections. ?----does an interface like these require upgrading your computers sound card, or does it effectively replace it for these applications?

Mar 01, 2008 02:01 pm Ableton live lite 5. It's a limited track version and I didn't give it much of a chance. I used Audacity (Free) with it until I got Sonar and it worked great.

Mar 01, 2008 02:48 pm I just looked at the ESI Juli@, nice looking card, has option for RCA or TRS in and outs, plus has digital and MIDI.

I and several others on here use ESI stuff, and i've heard nothing but good. Mines been working a treat.

This is where I got my ESP1010 from.
One rather neat feature of ESI, is the E-WDM drivers. This lets you use a virtual patch board, which lets you send output from one audio type over to another.
Fer instance, you could play Media player (mme drivers) and record the output into sonar (asio drivers).
This may seem little, but it really opens a lot of possibilities, and lets you transfer music from one format to another real quick.
