Before I got my Firewire410, I had no problems recording directly into my Creative Audigy (Crappy) Sound card. However, using the Firewire410, it keeps dropping out everytime I try to record my guitars. Anyone knows what the problem is? Thanks!

Hmm, I think it has something to do with my settings in sonar. Also when using the FW410, I can't use the midi metronome. Someone help me please! Don't want to think that I wasted all that money on the FW410... sigh...

You need to set your buffer settings in both the settings panel for the FW410 and in Sonars Options/Audio section. Make sure the correct drivers are selected as well. Either the ASIO or the WDM drivers.

As for the midi thing, well ya the FW410 doesn't have onboard sound like the Creative unit did. You will have to select the audio metronome in Sonar itself to hear one.

Thanks for the advice! Will go try it out. Any idea what a safe buffer size would be? I have a feeling that the audio metronome is also one of the reasons for the drop outs. Maybe there's a way to use both sound cards so that I can hear a midi metronome?
