Hello. I was looking at a Phonic Helix 18. I already have A firewire card in my computer so i definatley would want a firewire interface.

If i was to get the Phonic helix board would this be all i need to get okay sounding audio into my computer.

Yes it would. A few people here are using the Helix and like it. For the money it is a pretty decent deal and seems to work fairly well.

I would suggest thought o double check your firewire card to make sure it has a TI chip. It seems that most firewire interfaces at the moment are pretty picky about the interface card they are hooked to. And the TI chip is what is recomended by many of them in the fine print that most users don't read until its too late.

That and make absolutely certain that it will run a 6 pin firewire cable. That is a must to be able to supply power to the interface itself. Although the Helix appears to have a good power supply set up I still am pretty certain that a 6 pin is required for it to function properly.
