Just wondering, does anybody still use pedals these days or does everyone add all the effects they need on the computer.
I picked up a couple of new pedals the other day and I had them all linked together on the floor just playing and having fun and I was wondering if anyone bothers anymore? I really like them!

Feb 17, 2008 06:19 pm I still have a Boss DS1, I still think those are the ginchiest distortion pedals ever...not that I use it much anymore, but I still have it.

Feb 17, 2008 08:10 pm oh man the DS-1 was excellent. i had one years ago. can still get em actually.
never had problem with it like ya do with digital pedals.
with all the problems i've been having with digital crap(everything). especially interfaces,
anolog is seeming more tempting everday.
i definatley think for distortion, a pedal is the way to go before recording.
i think though, effects such as reverb, delay etc. should be left till later as an added effect.
using a delay for example while recording can throw your timing out. i would record dry and add.

Feb 17, 2008 11:18 pm The only pedal I still keep is an original vintage Cry Baby that was modded like Claptons Cream era pedal. In fact it was that years pedal.
I have it out on loan at the moment as I rarely use it. I don't play live any more so don't really need it but won't sell it.
I do all my pedals in the PODxt or the UX-2 now.

Feb 18, 2008 03:30 am The current pedal set up I have been using is a DS-1, just cos I think its such a great raw rock sound, I love it, also a Marshall Jackhammer, which I have recently aquired, this can get lots of sounds but you can get obscene distortion with it but it doesn't just turn into mush either. Those two pedals are used either/or obviousy. I also have my amp distortion which I was happy with and didn't think I needed anymore till I got the jackhammer. Along with this I also use a cry-baby which I've had about 10 years now so its nice and worn in and working really well and a Fab Flange. Its actually a pretty average flanger but it was cheep and has a funny name.
I'm assuming that when I get a UX2 (Pay day in 8 days!) I'll be able to just stick all these things straight into one of the guitar ports and then add what reverb I want with gearbox? If someone could just confirm that I'd be happier parting with the cash

I still use alot of pedals in recording, but as was mentioned i usually leave out the delays and tremelo, coz the programmed ones give u way more control, but i do use other pedals just coz i love them so much, i dont think there is much of a difference if in the end u get the sound u wanted.

Feb 18, 2008 12:18 pm Just a Morley wah-wah, here . Amp has the distortion that I like... sometimes I'll use a Boss C1... but not for recording . Mods are deffinately better sounding after tape .

Feb 18, 2008 01:38 pm I definitely use pedals. There's just no replacing the way that they interact with my amp and it's distortion. The Ibanez TS9 has quickly become my favorite, along with the Boss CS3.
I have to say that I haven't heard any recordings of a direct guitar going through pedals that I've liked though. The one exception is my bass going through the CS3, then into a TubeMP Studio, then into the PC. Even then I like it dry and direct even better.

Feb 18, 2008 08:08 pm JDOD, yes you can use the pedals in front of the UX-2. I've done it with the POD xt as well as the UX-2 with no ill effects.

Feb 19, 2008 11:37 am Oooh....TS9.... That's a good one.
I'll use pedals occasionally. In fact, I'll use anything that will get me the right tone.
ART BCC (Bass command center) - Which I occasionally use for guitar too
Tech-21 Tri-AC - Which I occasionally use for Bass too
Tech-21 Bass Driver DI - WHich I occasionally use for Acoustic guitar too
Digitech RP250 (Downloadable user patches!)
Old..OLD....Korg Wah/Phase pedal - Which I rarely use, but you never know.
