Cubase LE exporting

after you have mixed down your song and you want to export it so it can be burned to cd how is that done in Cubase LE so that it is CD quality or very close to it. Can that be done with this version. Isn't cd quality around 320 kbps, if im looking at the right screen it only allows you to export at 96kbps. Any help is appreciated!!

CD quality is 16-bit 44.1Khz. When you're talking 320 kbps then you're probably talking mp3, which isn't going to be quite near CD quality even with v0, vbr or at 320 kbps encoding. It's all still lossy encoding by the nature of the mp3 format.

For CD quality you'll want to export as a .wav file at 16-bit 44.1, both of which will be options in the export menu once you select the .wav format.

And if you do want to mix down into mp3, grab the LAME .dll file off the net (Google it), drop it in your Cubase directory and you should be able to point to it somewhere in the setup menus of Cubase. That'll give you access to higher bitrates of encoding for mp3 format.

after i switched everything and exported the song, it was kool in the beginning but when all instruments came in it starts to sound like all the instruments are fighting for their levels to be heard. do u have any ideas why that might be?

Yeah TC when I saw that I could only export in very low bitrates of mp3, I looked around and saw that there was a way to substitute the encoder of your choice. LAME is usually my choice, but the Frauenhoffer (sp?) one is good too.

As for the problem with the instruments fighting each other in your mix, that's almost certainly a matter of mixing. Here's a good article to give you a place to start:

It's all a matter of giving every instrument its own piece of the EQ spectrum. But be careful not to overdo the EQ or else you can end up with a bigger mess than you started with.

I suggest using subtractive EQ as much as possible (instead of boosting at 80Hz, cut everywhere except 80Hz, things like that).

And usually -3dB of cutting a certain frequency band is enough to make other instruments able to shine through in that band.

how do you drop it into your directory? i downloaded the LAME.dll thing, but i don't really know what you mean when you say drop it in your directory?

how do i get it to work now that i've downloaded it?

thanks!
