Complete recording noob in need of help

Alright. So I'm a complete noob at PC recording and I'm willing to start getting into it. I currently have instruments, Sony Acid Pro 6, Digital Multi-FX box, and a computer with a
Realtek HD audio card.(it sucks)

So, I've been seeing USB soundcards and Recording interfaces around so I started wondering. Basically what I want is a good, cheap, USB audio card that I can plug my instruments(guitar, keyboard, mic) and then wire it to my computer and record via Acid pro 6.

Any suggestions?

One that springs to ming instantly is the Line 6 Toneport UX-2 or the KB-37.

What kind of music exactly are you going to be recording? And will 2 channels of input and output be enough, assuming your recording as a solo performer?

Welcome to HRC by the way.

Those both look pretty nice. Although I should mention, I don't want effects because I'll either use pedals or most likely mic my amp.

I'm playing rock, metal, blues

Might there be something cheaper or the same but better quality as say the $200 one without the effects, because I'm really only looking for audio quality - effects are pretty much out of the way(I have amplitube as a last resort aswell.)

I'm pretty sure someone once told me that there's a way to just turn off all the effects. But really why not have the effects anyway...if the TonePort is the price range you're in and the best sound option for you then you're really just getting more bang for your buck.

Here's the US122 for 99$ on flea-bay:

Though, it's not always been the most stable. I have an older version, and it's been rock solid, but others have not been as fortunate.

It's kind of a toss up. Some have great luck, other have dismal luck (Keith on here being one of them).

I use the UX-2 as a plain jane interface very often. I like the fact it has microphone pre amp models and they are killer. But it is a very high quality interface as far as USB interfaces go. And it is stable and easy to install.

yeah, if I had the option, I'd much quicker go with a UX2 than a us122 (even though mine is working great). Midi is nice to have with it, but for the possible problems with the US122, the UX2 sounds like the kitty's PJs.

Just don't use the effects, BUT, if you use a mic to record, then you can use mic modeling to enhance your recorded sound.
