I import my song from protools to wavelab, where I edit the song the way that I feel it should sound. My problem is that I'm having trouble burning the final edited version to cd from Wavelab. Can anyone help me?

Hi there Zeek, Welcome to HRC.

A little more info would help.

'i'm having trouble' isn't very specific.

There's a few people on here using wavelab, so i'm sure they'll be able to help, but please kick out more info, like specifically what won't work? errors on screen? will it burn but not correctly? is there a CD in the drive? etc.

I'm sure you get the picture.

Maybe I'm just saying this wrong. How can I bounce the final edited audio in Wavelab to my harddisk where I'd be able to use toast or itunes to burn a cd. Right now when I try this I get a file that is not suppoted by Toast or itunes.

You rendering the file as 16bit / 44.1khz? that is what's required for CD audio.

To do that you just "save" the file and save it as a 16 bit/44.1k wave file...then burn that wav to CD and the burning application will convert it to redbook standard CD Audio.

Or, just set up a CD Project in WaveLab and burn it right from there rather than using Toast or anything.

The file is rendered as a 16bit, so I don't think that's the problem. For those familiar with the wavelab application, how exactly do you bounce audio from Wavelab. Example:File,CD tabs up top. Can someone walk me through the process.

Hey Dbmasters and pjk, thanks alot. I'll give that a try. It seems very straight forward and it's exactly what I've been trying to do. Once again thank you.

I'm still having issues getting the finished audio file out of wavelab to a cd. When I save it as a 16 bit wave file, the file that it is created has a .bnc extention and is not recognized by toast as an audio file. Also the wavelab applicaton shows me a warning that I will not be able to write audio to cd unless I specify a driver in the preference section. When I go to the Edit/preference a driver is already chosen. My question is am I able to write to cd's using toast, but when I use soundwave it does not see any cd recorders at all. Is there anyone that has come across this issue? Why cant soundwave see my cd recorder, and why is it creating a .bnc extention on the files that I save as 16bit wave?

Are you sure it is a .bnc file? That is an encryption file format that is used in hundreds of different ways.

You should have a choice in the under File, Export that is listed as .wav or simply wav.

The fact that a CD driver is not showing up tells me there is something wrong with your Wavelab install.

Exactly what version of Wavelab is it? Most times when there is no CD burner data base showing up it is because it is not installed with the application.

And honestly, that usually only happens when it is not a full version of the software.

Noize, what version of wavelab are using? I don't have that option in mine. I open a wave (mixdown) in wavelab. I then do a global analysis on it to determine average "volume" db level. From there I stack any plugs I want to use in the upper section of the mastering window and my maximizer/dither prog in the bottom window. Once I have what I want I use the [render] button at the very bottom of the mastering section. Post activating the render button I am presented with file type choices. I think I have V6.

After that I open a new session in Wavelab as a new CD project and use that to guide me through printing to the cd.

V5 is what I am using. You can't export to .wav files?

Slight difference as I see it, although I have to admit I haven't had a lot of time to get into the prog. It does sooooo much. Using the wave window not the montage with the mastering section up; there is no export option under [file]. There is only a [render] button at the bottom of the mastering section. Once initiated the 'render' process gives you a ka-billion options as to what you might care to render. .wav, .mp3, .eieio etc. All different sample rates for each file type. Dithering to a new bit depth rate is accomplished via a single 'last in chain' plug slot that is limited to choices of maximizers.

So quasi-yes, you can "export" to most any type of audio file, but only via the render routine.
