New Speaker Setup, Pan doesn't work

So my mixer died and as a last resort to be able to listen to music I hooked up an old PA mixer I had.

So the signal goes OUT from the Delta 44
In to channel one and two of the Kustom PA mixer
The Tape REC outs go to the Tape Ins on my reciever/amp
and then that goes to the speaker

Now... in cubase sx with he tracks setup on stereo out 1 (which is out 1/2 of the delta), Panning a track SHOULD send it to it's respective speaker.. but so far that is not working. Any ideas?

Make sure you have the input channels on the Kustom set so channel 1 is panned full left and channel 2 is panned full right. And as well if there is a mono button make suer it is not pushed on.

yeah I don't have a pan button on the custom. I guess it's not a HUGE deal, since tommorow I'm gonna be going out to get the RCA to 1/4" cables I need so that I don't have to add in a mixer, but I just found it odd. Also noted that turning down the volume on one of the channels doesn't do anything.

Like I said, not a huge deal, just curiousity. Means I just can't mix tonight.

It sound as though it is summing the signals to mono then.

I have no idea what it's doing, but it's letting me listen to music so that's a plus.

NONE of the knobs do anything, volume, reverb, eq, tone... nothing. Having to control volume from the delta panel.

I just had a brain fart. I wonder if the tape outs are just listening to a summed signal and the faders and pan don't function through that.

I'm not following. My previous set up was the delta outs into the mixer, and the tape outs of the mixer into the reciever, and that allowed me to pan not only on the mixer, but also in software.

So do you think the problem lies with the replacement mixer I have as the front end, or the reciever. If I just get 1/4" to RCA cables and run the outs of my delta directly into the tape ins of the reciever, should I be able to pan and all that jazz, or is there no way to do that with my current setup until I can invest in either a proper pair of monitors or a mixer?

I am thinking for now you might just be best to run straight out of the Delta. I am thinking the Kustom has some summing going on that isn't apparent with a button to just shut it off. Very odd but I've seen it on some older mixers.

I guess you could try using a couple different channels to see what it does. That or try the main outs of the Kustom to see what happens.
