My new song - The writing on the wall

Hey guys,

It's been a good 2 years or so since I've had a look on these forums.

I'm working on a new song, the first verse and chorus (work in progress) are in my profile. I haven't yet come up with an official name for it because I only started writing it on Sunday. For now I'm calling it 'The writing on the wall' because thats one of the lines in the chorus.

The lyrics for the first part of the chorus are:

Don't look over your shoulder
The writings on the wall
We only get older
Then the harder we fall

It desperately needs the vocal track to bring out the music but take a listen and let me know what you think.

Very interesting and compelling music! The drums are killer and the strings sound great! When will you get the vocal on it? It's crying for them... Did Kontakt do the strings? Enjoyed the listen!

Ya, nice mix matty. I am as well curious on the string used???????

I liked the bass as well, nice and present but not over powering at all. Cant wait to hear this with some vocals and finished up.

Hello and thanks for listening and for your comments. I hope to have the music complete by the end of the year, and I'll put the vocal track on it during January.

Yes, Kontakt was used to implement the strings into the mix, however the instrument pack plugged into Kontakt is produced by EastWest.
(see: www.soundsonline.com/EWQL...-pr-EW-160.html ). They cover just about every symphonic instrument you can think of and they are about as real sounding as I've managed to find.

The song was inspired by my decision to move to Canada - I'm a Kiwi wanting to see the world a bit. Anyone here from up that way?

I would also be interested in collaborating with one of you music geniouses for getting guitar/bass sections played.

Ya we have a few members from Canada. As well as a couple from NZ. Those East/West samples are killer for sure. I'm using Kontakt 3 and loving the factory Strings so far, but will be adding East/West libraries soon as well.

Keep us posted on the progress of the piece. I'm curious to hear it when it is done.

Ya Dung, that is not a cheap bit of sampler madness there. I know there was a killer buy on it last year when they did a big group buy thing. But is still wasn't cheap enough to yank me in.

And there's a bundle deal going on:

www.soundsonline.com/prod...tid=EW-160PROB1

That would be just under a grand for Kontakt and those samples... Not today...

Definitely a lovely sound...

Dungbeatle, I'm hoping to get you a little smapling of the stock Kontakt strings by the weekend.

And ya, not today. I'm not sure I would pop for that bundle even at that price.
