I've just added 2 songs to my profile here. I would really appreciate it if I could get some opinions on it. Basically I would like your opinion on the mixing and mastering. I'm totally new to mixing and mastering and am 100% open to suggestions and criticism. Thanks alot for your help.

I had to listen to the one called san francisco. Off the bat, I would say the quality sounds pretty clean.

On the mix, I would throw some light reverb on the guitars, as for most of the song they are pretty up front, like *right there*. Just push em back a tiny bit.

Singing is mostly good (missed a high note there at the end...)

When you cut too just the guitar in the left, the sound is too unbalanced for my taste, maybe center that guitar for that portion, then move it left again when the other guitar comes in...

I like the song, and I like anything called san francisco. good job for a newbie. what did you record with? cuz as i said the quality sounded clean.

Both songs are really good, On the song End Of Time, the over all mix was very bright. But hopefully you'll get some replies from some of the folks that really know of what they speak. Great songs.

I have to agree with coolo on San Francisco, cool song for sure. And ya only noticed the one stray high note there at the end. Otherwise vocals were pretty good.

Did you use any compression on the vocals? If not that is pretty good as they sound very level. What mic did you use to record the guitar and vocals?

As for the brightness, you could maybe touch the guitars with a little bit around the 1200khz range or so to add a little body, maybe even a tad lower say around 900khz or so. That might help fill in some low end.

The vocals as well could use a tiny bit of EQ to fill in that lower range.

Otherwise, very nice arrangement and playing.

Thanks alot...I'm really glad that you guys like the song. As far as mics used...I just used a crappy nady stage mic...bought it from musicians friend for like $10 and I plugged the guitars right into the interface to record them...no mics.
could you be a bit more clear about he khz thing. I have no idea what that means. When I mixed it I just kind of messed around with settings and the EQ until I thought it sounded decent. I really have no idea what I'm doing. And the compression yes I did use compression on the vocals and guitar...thanks for the feedback.

Have a look at the chart on this page. www.har-bal.com/frequency.php
Click the enlarge button.

You will see a graph showing some selections of instruments and such which shows were they reside in the frequency spectrum related to the Hz which is cycles of the wave that makes the sound. The higher the cycle count or Hz the higher the tone will be.

You simply need to find an adjustment, preferably using a parametric type EQ and boost a tiny bit until you get a fuller sound from the track you are working.
