Adobe Audition 2.0 headphone mix troubles

I am having trouble controlling the output volume of the track I am recording.

If I have a drum track laid down on track 1, and I have track 2 armed to record (it is recording a mic'd up guitar amp), I cannot control the volume in my headphone mix coming from track 2.

I can raise or lower the volume of track 1 in audition, but track 2 is still much louder than I want it to be. If I lower the volume of the mic'd amp using my mixer (Behringer Eurorack UB802) it won't be at the proper recording level.

I'm sure there is a simple way to monitor the currently recording track, but I can't seem to find out how.

Welcome to HRC.

Do you have a volume control for the overall headphone level?

If so, simply adjust it so that the volume of the armed track is comfortable, then adjust the volume of the other tracks to taste.

I have the UB802 and Audition 1.5. The output from the sound card is fed back through the mixer via the tape inputs. Push the Tape to Control Room button and monitor from the Control Room/Phones outputs.
