If I EVER meet the guy who runs apple, well, god help him.
(Copying my session with 3,000 something PT edits to my Ipod) "Copying 4,442 files to "Arie's Ipod"" "Copying 1,243 files to "Arie's Ipod""
"DEVICE REMOVAL some files may be corrupted" BLEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHH
This has happened soooo many times with soooo many sessions. And all the files are like 4 kb! And why cant PT just store the files in the god damn session or something?! "About 48 minutes remaining" I thought I was going to party tonight. Time to get an external HD for mac eh?
Rant over. Bleh.

Oct 05, 2007 08:04 am so the ipod is being improperly unmounted while in file transfers? Are you copying from a mac... specifically a laptop? Is this firewire?
Oct 05, 2007 11:09 am Just a reminder that without "the guy who runs Apple" you wouldn't have an iPod in the first place :)

Oct 05, 2007 02:00 pm i dont understand what you're trying to do...
Oct 05, 2007 02:08 pm Sounds like he's trying to use his iPod as a storage device for his session files. Not sure why.

Oct 05, 2007 04:12 pm Thus the reason I use Sonar and a PC. I have never seen such an expensive piece of software that has such lame problems with simple task's.
And don't even get me started on the freakin iPod. Try Creatives Zen. I've never seen one burst into flames and never seen one crash during file transfer.

Oct 05, 2007 04:37 pm personally I'm thinking it's actually the host...and a manifestation of the 'firewire non-hotswapability issue' ... ie... the additional current suddenly needed by the firewire device fried his motherboard... apple laptops are bad with this...particularly the G4s... I lost one to this on the last week of applecare so we were safe from the $700 repair bill.
Oct 05, 2007 06:48 pm I'm using my Ipod to transfer pro tools sessions from macs in a number of studios to my HD on my PC. I don't have an external HD formatted for mac so all I have is this freakin Ipod.
And yeah, if it wasn't for mac I would have gone withone of the better options, music player wise. USB Zek, my ipod doesn't do firewire.
"Copying 2,652 items to "Sessions" - God damn it....
Oct 05, 2007 07:13 pm uh, there's nothing wrong with ipod. you're doing something wrong. they're as stable as their computers. they certainly don't burst into flames! usually!
Oct 05, 2007 07:17 pm Seems an external HD would be cheaper than your funeral expenses, CS.

Oct 05, 2007 07:26 pm I just wouldn't use Itunes, It's bloated unstable rubbish (bit like myself).
Try anapod explorer

Oct 08, 2007 09:58 pm Theres something definitely wrong with ipods if you plan to use them to store sessions on. And I must say, I've had my fair share of crashes running HD on G5's. My favourite one was when it was overheating and wouldn't let me turn it off. Like thermal runaway. AND this is the third ipod I've been through (2nd replaced by warranty), AND my first 2 died of HD failures.
Herb, Agreed. "Muuuuum" :-)
Oct 08, 2007 10:10 pm Bleak i could kiss you!
thanks for the anapod recommendation!
i f'n hate itunes! and can't figure out how to get winamp to work with my ipod.
Oct 08, 2007 10:17 pm three words: "16gb flash drive". haha. I also hate itunes. I hate that I can very hear the volume "oscillate" slightly on my MP3's... probably a product of the CD's being ripped having such a high volume the program has to cut the highs a little?
Any thoughts on this phenomena?
I also hate that i can't sync with one of my four computers without erasing the freaking ipod. SO annoying.
Oct 09, 2007 01:46 am sounds like you guys are having totally inexplicably ipod problems
i don't know nothin' bout PT sessions though. how are you storing them? using a program of some kind or dragging them onto the ipod icon in 'my computer?'
if peeps are looking for ipod programs, btw, i recommend the free 'sharepod' for moving your files off of the ipod. it also has a player built in i believe.
Oct 09, 2007 03:49 am that's the thing! i just recently deleted damn near 30GB's of podcasts to make room for music (for work)....i couldn't 'save' them to my computer with itunes....it's been a struggle for me to learn their logic, or lack there of.
Oct 09, 2007 03:51 am HA! that was a total unexpected double entranda!
