Well, it took a while. His name is John Bennett. He wrote the words, I wrote the music and we took a day to record this. It falls apart a little at the end but what the heck. I was hoping for some feed back on what you guys think of:
1)the mix levels
2)the vocal track-quality and sound
3)over all feel of the song
please take a minute to listen
and thanks in advance

Jan 29, 2003 11:47 am I like that,
I would definately like to hear some harmonies in
there.I`m listening through cheap headphones but
I would also bring up the lead a little.I really
like that style,I can`t figure who it reminds me of......R.E.M.? ,Petty?, It don`t matter, but harmonies would really add a lot.

Jan 30, 2003 07:53 am cool, good work tony (and other geezer!)
i personally would tur the drums up slightly to give it a little extra 'kick' but thats down to your preferences or whatever...
top one!

Jan 30, 2003 09:51 am Ya, i agree about the drums. and harmonies. He's coming over friday nite and we are contemplating what to work on. i wasnt planning on even getting the song that finished, it sorta did it on its own.
so our choices are
1)do it again- correct the guitar parts, bring up the drums, add "drum extras" (cym, crash hits ect)
play a base line, and maybe a full grand piano part.
2)leave it in the "its ready to play out acoustic on open mic nite" pile and do another tune
im gearing up for a trip 17 feb>16 apr in NY state, so we have limited time. do we do more at that kind of production, or perfect this one........tough call.

Jan 31, 2003 04:31 am lol...thats what, 200 albums?
i read about a band called 'guided by voices' who have recorded and released over a thousand tunes - how cool is that?
id be afraid of repeating myself though...id get bored playing the same song with different words forever!

Feb 02, 2003 09:01 pm G B V rock's. If you have never listened to them, it is worth a listen. They have some of the best enginered work out there. You can hear every thing so clearly. I listen to some of their stuff for referance when I am loosing patients with a mix that just won't go were I want it to.

Feb 03, 2003 12:10 pm Tony,
Just took a listen to your tune. Very nice song. It has a nice smooth folky quality to it. I agree with everyone else about the drums. I think the song would benefit from a little more punch. I also would think about EQing the guitar a little differently. It sounds nice and crisp, but it seems to me to be just a little harsh. It feels to me like it needs to be warmed up a bit. Maybe pull some of the mids down a bit. Other than those minor and totally preference-type things, very nice job!
